  1. 11. Studies of induced transcription in response to an activated Ha-ras, TPA and UV radiation in keratinocytes

    Författare :Mats Nilsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :keratinocytes; Ha-ras; ultraviolet radiation; transcription factor; TPA; NF-kB;

    Sammanfattning : The mutational activation of the Ha-ras gene in keratinocytes has been shown to occur during the initiation step in the mouse skin model for multistage carcinogenesis. Skin tumor promoters such as 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA) and ultraviolet radiation (UVR) stimulate a selective outgrowth of initiated keratinocytes to form benign tumours (papillomas). 2. 12. Regulation of activation of NF-κB by Calmodulin in T-lymphocytes

    Författare :Sreenivasa Rao Oruganti; Thomas Grundström; Eva Sverinson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Calcium; Calmodulin; CaMKII; TCR; Bcl10; NF-κB;

    Sammanfattning : Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kB) is a widely expressed family of transcription factors that are involved in a diverse number of processes. These include inflammation or differentiation, survival or apoptosis, and proliferation or cell cycle arrest. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Inflammatory transcription factors in atherosclerosis

    Författare :Wolfgang Dichtl; Lund Medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Sammanfattning : Transcription factors such as nuclear factor-kB (NF-kB), activator protein-1 (AP-1) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) may play important roles in atherogenesis, by regulating chronic subclinical vascular inflammation. In the first study, we showed that VLDL activates the proinflammatory transcription factor NF-kB in endothelial cells both in vitro and in vivo. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Inducible nitric oxide synthase in experimental urinary tract infection

    Författare :Mirjana Poljakovic; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Urology; host defense; cell viability; nitrate; lipopolysaccaride; cytokines; sphingomyelinase; mitogen activator protein kinase; nitric oxide; nitrotyrosine; E. coli; cyclooxygenase; urinary tract infection; prostaglandins; urothelium; bladder; kidney; NADPH diaphorase histochemistry; nitric oxide synthase; vävnadskultur; histokemi; cytokemi; Histologi; tissue culture; histochemistry; cytochemistry; Histology; nefrologi; Urologi; nephrology; Infections; Infektioner;

    Sammanfattning : Urinary tract infection (UTI) is among the most common bacterial infections in humans and the majority are caused by Escherichia coli (E. coli). Abundant evidence indicates that nitric oxide (NO) produced by the inducible NO synthase (iNOS) plays an important role in host defense against infection. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Inhibition of smooth muscle cell proliferation after balloon injury

    Författare :Bojan Cercek; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Smooth muscle cell proliferation is an important part of the arterial response to injury Insulin like growth factor-I (IGF-I) is involved in regulation of cell proliferation and hypopituitarism is associated with decreased vessel wall response to injury. We investigated the role of vascular IGF-I in vessel wall response to injury. LÄS MER
