  1. 1. Tissue reactions to biomaterials

    Författare :Agneta Rosengren; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cytochemistry; Histology; Macrophages; Cryosubstitution; Proteins; Immunohistochemistry; Titanium; Implants; PTFE; histochemistry; tissue culture; Histologi; cytokemi; histokemi; vävnadskultur;

    Sammanfattning : The biological response to different implanted biomaterials vary. The relative importance of factors in the material and host for this variation are at present incompletely known. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Tissue engineering in blood vessels

    Författare :Gisela Helenius; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :tissue engineering; vascular graft; endothelial cells; smooth muscle cells; thrombogenicity; mechanical properties; scaffold; bacterial cellulose;

    Sammanfattning : Severely occluded coronary- and peripheral arteries, caused by atherosclerotic plaques, are treated with bypass surgery. Autologous veins are the most commonly used replacement graft. Among the patients that need a vascular bypass, 5-10% lack appropriate replacement veins due to previous surgery of bad quality of the vessels. LÄS MER

  3. 3. In vitro and in vivo studies of tissue engineering in reconstructive plastic surgery

    Författare :Fredrik R.M. Huss; Gunnar Kratz; Elof Eriksson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tissue engineering; plastic surgery; guided tissue regeneration; Plastic surgery; Plastikkirurgi; Plastikkirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : To correct, improve, and maintain tissues, and their functions, are common denominators in tissue engineering and reconstructive plastic surgery. This can be achieved by using autolo-gous tissues as in flaps or transplants. However, often autologous tissue is not useable. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The extracellular matrix is (ECM) is a network of large, structural proteins and polysaccharides, important for cellular behavior, tissue development and maintenance. Present thesis describes work exploring ECM as scaffolds for tissue engineering by manipulating cells cultured in vitro or by influencing ECM expression in vivo. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Cell therapy for denervated tissue

    Författare :Roine El-Habta; Ludvig J. Backman; Paul J. Kingham; Patrik Danielson; António Salgado; Umeå universitet; []
