  1. 6. Effect of thimerosal on the murine immune system : especially induction of systemic autoimmunity

    Författare :Said Havarinasab; Per Hultman; Klas Nordlind; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; thimerosal; ethylmercury; autoimmunity; mice; immunosuppression; Th1; Th2; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : The organic mercury compound ethylmercurithiosalicylate (thimerosal), an antiseptic and a preservative, has recently raised public health concern due to its presence in vaccines globally. Thimerosal dissociates in the body to thiosalicylate and ethyl mercury (EtHg), which is partly converted to inorganic mercuric mercury (Hg2+). LÄS MER

  2. 7. Modulation of immune responses in murine collagen induced arthritis

    Författare :Fredrik Bäckström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Experimental arthritis; type II collagen; immunomodulation; oral tolerance;

    Sammanfattning : Murine collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) is the most common model for studying human rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Autologous or heterologous type II collagen (CII) emulsified in Freund´s complete adjuvant induces arthritis in susceptible mice, which is histopathologically similar to RA. LÄS MER

  3. 8. The SHB adaptor protein in human and murine leukemia

    Författare :Maria Jamalpour; Michael Welsh; Edvard Smith; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The SHB adaptor protein operates downstream of tyrosine kinase receptors. It has been found previously that Shb deficiency in hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) results in less proliferation and failure to maintain the myeloid compartment over time. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Regulation of gene and protein expression : two model systems

    Författare :Lars H Lund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HIV-1; EIAV; Tat; TAR; Cyclin T1; CDK9; P-TEFb; RNA polymerase II; gene regulation; transcriptional elongation; CEA; signal sequence.;

    Sammanfattning : Genetic information is expressed by DNA transcription and mRNA translation. With few exceptions, every cell of an organism, or the human body, contains the same genetic information. Yet the structure and function of different tissues are highly variable. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Mechanisms of mechanically induced Osteoclastogenesis : in a novel in vitro model for bone implant loosening

    Författare :Cornelia Bratengeier; Anna Fahlgren; Per Aspenberg; Mikael Sigvardsson; Oran Kennedy; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Total joint arthroplasty is the primary intervention in the treatment of end-stage osteoarthritis. Despite the high success rate, in some patients, the replacement will fail during their lifetime requiring a revision of the implant. These revisions are strenuous for the patient and costly for health care. LÄS MER
