1. Source Language of Lexical Transfer in Multilingual Learners : A Mixed Methods Approach
Sammanfattning : The study reported in this thesis investigates the source language of lexical transfer in multilingual learners using a mixed methods approach. Previous research has shown that the source language of crosslinguistic influence can be related to factors such as proficiency, recency/exposure, psychotypology, the L2 status, and item-specific transferability. 2. Transport systems meeting long-term climate targets : A backcasting approach
Sammanfattning : Future transport systems consistent with long-term climate targets are examined in this thesis, using a systems perspective covering the entire transport system. Aviation is given particular attention, as expansion of this mode is difficult to reconcile with climate targets. LÄS MER
3. Antenna System Design for 5G and Beyond – A Modal Approach
Sammanfattning : Antennas are one of the key components that empower a new generation of wireless technologies, such as 5G and new radar systems. It has been shown that antenna design strategies based on modal theories represent a powerful systematic approach to design practical antenna systems with high performance. LÄS MER
4. A multi-modal approach to soft systems methodology
Sammanfattning : The main aim of my research is to explore ways of enriching Soft Systems Methodology by developing intellectual tools that can help designers to conceptualise, create and evaluate different design alternatives. This directs the focus on the methodology’s modelling phase even though some ideas related to analysis also will be presented. LÄS MER
5. Sound Insulation at Low Frequencies
Sammanfattning : The airborne sound transmission through building partitions at low frequencies was studied. The definition of the sound reduction index as a measure of sound insulation has been examined by means of extensive numerical simulations in 3-D domains. The simulations were based on the wave theoretical acoustics. LÄS MER
