  1. 16. Efficient strategies for collecting posture data using observation and direct measurement

    Författare :Per Liv; Svend Erik Mathiassen; Marina Heiden; Leif Nilsson; Ingvar Bergdahl; Stephen Bao; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Exposure assessment; arm elevation; exposure variability; variance components; random effects model; precision; bias; sample size; sample allocation; calibration; bootstrapping; Occupational and Environmental Medicine; arbets- och miljömedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Relationships between occupational physical exposures and risks of contracting musculoskeletal disorders are still not well understood; exposure-response relationships are scarce in the musculoskeletal epidemiology literature, and many epidemiological studies, including intervention studies, fail to reach conclusive results. Insufficient exposure assessment has been pointed out as a possible explanation for this deficiency. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Mortality and morbidity in lead smelter workers with concomitant exposure to arsenic

    Författare :Nils-Göran Lundström; Lars Gerhardsson; Peter Westerholm; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Copper-lead smelter; lung cancer; lead exposure; arsenic exposure; Environmental medicine; Miljömedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Arsenic is a well-known lung carcinogen in humans. In 2006, IARC upgraded inorganic lead as a possible human carcinogen (2A). LÄS MER

  3. 18. On temperature-related mortality in an elderly population and susceptible groups

    Författare :Daniel Oudin Åström; Joacim Rocklöv; Paul Wilkinson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Heat-related mortality; attribution; elderly; susceptible groups; Occupational and Environmental Medicine; arbets- och miljömedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Climate change has increased the frequency, intensity, duration, and spatial extent of some extreme weather events, for instance heat waves. Societies today are experiencing an ongoing change in the population structure yielding an increasing proportion elderly due to increased longevity, resulting in higher prevalence of chronic and degenerative diseases. 5. 20. Methods to assess physical load at work : With a focus on the neck and upper extremities

    Författare :Peter Palm; Mikael Forsman; Magnus Svartengren; Svend Erik Mathiassen; Eva Vingård; Esa Pekka Takala; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; risk assessment; physical load; upper extremities; ergonomics; Occupational and Environmental Medicine; Arbets- och miljömedicin;

    Sammanfattning : To prevent work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), useful, reliable and valid methods for assessing physical workload and risks for MSDs are needed. Ergonomists often assess work by short visual observations without a specific tool. LÄS MER
