  1. 1. Fibroblast growth factor-23 and Klotho in bone/mineral and parathyroid disorders

    Författare :Tijana Krajisnik; Tobias E. Larsson; Kenneth B. Jonsson; Östen Ljunggren; Peyman Björklund; Gunnar Sterner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; calcitriol; chronic kidney disease; CKD; chronic renal failure; fibroblast growth factor 23; fibroblast growth factor-23; FGF23; FGF-23; GalNac-T3; GALNT3; GFR; hyperostosis-hyperphosphatemia syndrome; HHS; Klotho; parathyroid hormone; PTH; hyperparathyroidism; pHPT; sHPT; uremic; vitamin D3; Endocrinology; Endokrinologi; Internal Medicine; invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF23) is a novel, bone-produced hormone that regulates renal phosphate (Pi) reabsorption and calcitriol metabolism. Disorders of mineral and bone metabolism, such as autosomal dominant hypophosphatemic rickets (ADHR) and hyperostosis-hyperphosphatemia syndrome (HHS), witness the importance of well-balanced serum levels of FGF23. 2. 2. Renal Klotho in mineral metabolism

    Författare :Risul Amin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Calcium and phosphorous are critical elements in a number of physiological processes, including maintenance of bone structure, cell signaling and energy metabolism. Their endocrine regulation is tightly controlled through a number of feedback mechanisms involving parathyroid hormone (PTH), vitamin D and the recently discovered fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23). 3. 3. FGF23 - a possible Phosphatonin

    Författare :Richard Marsell; Kenneth Jonsson; Caroline Silve; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Surgery; Fibroblast growth factor 23; FGF23; FGF-23; Phosphate homeostasis; Vitamin D; Klotho; Parathyroid hormone; PTH; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Human physiology is dependent on an accurate phosphate (Pi) homeostasis. Defective Pi regulation causes hyper- or hypophosphatemia, which are associated with ectopic calcification or impaired bone mineralization, and a shortened life span. Current endocrine models of Pi homeostasis are incomplete. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The role of Klotho in mineral metabolism and inflammation

    Författare :Risul Amin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Accumulated data suggest that a disrupted FGF23-Klotho axis is a major contributor to the development of chronic kidney disease (CKD). This axis might have a broader role in the regulation of inflammation, yet the underlying mechanisms remain largely elusive. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The role of FGF23/Klotho in mineral metabolism and chronic kidney disease

    Författare :Hannes Olauson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global health burden of growing incidence and prevalence. As renal function declines disturbances in mineral metabolism, such as hyperphosphatemia and secondary hyperparathyroidism, inevitably develop. These metabolic changes are closely associated with poor prognosis and survival. LÄS MER
