21. Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles, a novel tracer in breast cancer surgery
Sammanfattning : The most common surgical choice of treatment in breast cancer is breast-conserving surgery (BCS) together with sentinel lymph node biopsy (SNB). Around 10% of breast cancer diagnosis are ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIO) are a novel tracer for sentinel lymph node (SN) detection. LÄS MER
22. Proton Relaxation Properties of a Particulate Iron Oxide MR Contrast Agent in Different Tissue Systems : Implications for Imaging
Sammanfattning : Knowledge of the relationship between in vivo contrast agent concentration and magnetic resonance (MR) signal response is an important requirement in contrast enhanced MR imaging in general and in MR based perfusion imaging in particular. This relationship is a complex function of the properties of the contrast agent as well as the structure of the target tissue. LÄS MER
23. Following nanoparticle self-assembly in real-time : Small-angle X-ray scattering and quartz crystal microbalance study of self-assembling iron oxide nanocubes
Sammanfattning : Self-assembly of nanoparticles is a widely used technique to produce nanostructured materials with crystallographic coherence on the atomic scale, i.e. mesocrystals, which can display useful collective properties. This thesis focusses on the underlying mechanism and dynamics of mesocrystal formation by using real-time techniques. LÄS MER
24. Geophysical 3D models of Paleoproterozoic Iron Oxide Apatite mineralization’s and Related Mineral Systems in Norrbotten, Sweden
Sammanfattning : The Northern Norrbotten ore district hosts a multitude of Sweden’s mineral deposits including world class deposits such as the Malmberget and Kirunavaara Iron oxide apatite deposits, the Aitik Iron oxide copper gold deposit, and a multitude of smaller deposits. Northern Norrbotten has been shaped by tectonothermal events related to the evolution of the Fennoscandian Shield and is a geologically complex environment. LÄS MER
25. Transition metal oxide surfaces : Surface structures and molecular interaction
Sammanfattning : Metal oxides are both corrosion products and useful materials with a wide range of applications. Two of the most used metals today are iron and copper. In this thesis, surface structures and molecular interaction with surfaces of iron oxides and copper oxides are studied using spectroscopy and microscopy methods. LÄS MER
