11. Arsenic (V) adsorption on iron oxide : implications for soil remedeation and water purification
Sammanfattning : Addition of iron oxide based adsorbents to arsenic contaminated soils has been proposed as a mean to reduce the mobility of arsenic in the soil. However, the conditions in the soil such as pH value, the presence of phosphate after addition of fertilizer to the soil or the presence of Zn (II) as a co-contaminant may affect the adsorption of arsenate on the iron oxide and may therefore have implications for the mobility of arsenic in the remediated soil. 12. Fundamental Studies Related to Gaseous Reduction of Iron Oxide
Sammanfattning : The demands for increasing the efficiency and lowering the environmental effects in iron and steelmaking industries have given rise to interests in application of direct reduction (DR) processes for production of iron by different gases. These advancements require comprehensive models for better control of the process conditions and the product properties. LÄS MER
13. Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) as a multimodality imaging probe for sentinel nodes : Design and Preclinical Evaluation
Sammanfattning : Breast cancer and malignant melanoma disseminate through the lymphatic system and the first metastases arise in one or two regional, sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs) draining the primary tumour site. Therefore, identification and characterization of the SLNs is of major importance for cancer staging and for choice of therapy in patients. LÄS MER
14. Raman Spectroscopy and Hyperspectral Analysis of Living Cells Exposed to Nanoparticles
Sammanfattning : Nanoparticles, i.e. particles with at least one dimension smaller than 100 nm, are present in large quantities in ambient air and can also be found in an increasing amount of consumer products. It is known that many nanomaterials have physicochemical properties that differ from physicochemical properties of the same material in bulk size. LÄS MER
15. Bioaccessibility of Stainless Steels : Importance of Bulk and Surface Features
Sammanfattning : With increasing environmental awareness, the desire to protect human beings and the environment from adverse effects induced by dispersed metals has become an issue of great concern and interest. New policies, such as REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) within the European Community, have been implemented to reduce hazards posed by the use of chemicals on producers and downstream users.
