  1. 16. Clinical effects of reduced iron content and fortification with bovine lactoferrin in infant formula

    Författare :Maria Björmsjö; Staffan K. Berglund; Olle Hernell; Mary Fewtrell; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; infant formula; lactoferrin; bovine lactoferrin; iron; iron supplementation; iron fortification; iron status; infant nutrition; cytokines; neurodevelopment; vaccine response; infection-related morbidity; pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Breast milk, with its complex, individual and over time adapting composition, is considered the optimal source of nutrition for infants during the first months of life. Two possible contributing factors to the benefits of breastfeeding compared to infant formula-feeding are the differences in iron and lactoferrin (Lf) concentrations between breast milk and infant formula. 2. 17. Feeding the very low birth weight infant : short and long term effects of tube feeding methods in early postnatal life

    Författare :Ann Dsilna Lindh; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :tube feeding;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate short term effects of enteral feeding methods, continuous versus intermittent bolus feeding in very low birth weight infants on gastro intestinal tolerance and growth (I) and, behavioural responses of stress during feeding (II) in early postnatal life. Furthermore, to compare and follow up of longer term effects of these enteral feeding methods on later breastfeeding capability (III). LÄS MER

  3. 18. Infants with colic - Parents’ experiences in short and long perspectives and the effect of acupuncture treatment on crying, feeding, stooling and sleep

    Författare :Kajsa Landgren; Institutionen för hälsovetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Baby; Interviews; Infantile Colic; Crying; Content analysis; randomised; stooling; feeding; phenomenological hermeneutic; Parents’ experiences; Long term effects;

    Sammanfattning : Infantile colic, involving an otherwise healthy infant crying and fussing more than three hours per day and more than three days per week, is a common problem in Western countries. Both the infant and the parents suffer during the months of persistent crying and there is a risk that the establishing of the early relationship might be disturbed. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Temporary neonatal exposure to whole and hydrolysed cow's milk proteins. Studies of macromolecular absorption and immunological variables

    Författare :Pekka O Juvonen; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; beta-lactoglobulin; ovalbumin; cow s milk proteins; antibodies; IgG; IgE; secretory IgA; alpha-lactalbumin; breast-feeding; Pediatrics; Pediatri; early infant feeding; casein hydrolysate; Human milk; cow s milk;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this work was to study prospectively the effects of different feeding regimens during the first three days of life. A group of 129 infants were randomly assigned at birth to one of three feeding regimens: human milk (HM), cow's milk formula (CMF), or a casein hydrolysate formula (CHF). LÄS MER

  5. 20. Towards explaining the Swedish epidemic of celiac disease : an epidemiological approach

    Författare :Anna Myléus; Anneli Ivarsson; Stig Wall; Hans Stenlund; Stefano Guandalini; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; celiac disease; epidemiology; etiology; infant feeding; infections; prevalence; screening; vaccinations; Epidemiology; epidemiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Celiac disease occurs worldwide in approximately 1% of the population, whereof the majority of cases are undiagnosed. Sweden experienced an epidemic (1984-1996) of clinically detected celiac disease in children below 2 years of age, partly attributed to changes in infant feeding. LÄS MER
