  2. 2. T cell Tolerance - Cellular and molecular features of immune regulation

    Författare :Susanna Grundström; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; serology; Immunology; JAK STAT.; NFkB; suppression; IL-2; superantigen; T cells; tolerance;

    Sammanfattning : The immune system has evolved regulatory mechanisms in order to balance the effects of deleterious immune responses. Such immunological tolerance may be specifically acquired by lymphocytes, although different cells of the immune system participate in the induction and maintenance of tolerance. LÄS MER

  3. 3. On the regulation of immune responses to dietary and self antigens

    Författare :Susanne Lindgren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Tolerance; regulatory T cells; self antigens; oral tolerance; dietary antigens; intestinal epithelial cells; exosomes; Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxin A;

    Sammanfattning : Regulatory mechanisms are necessary to avoid the misdirected aggressive immune responses responsible for the pathology seen in autoimmunity and allergy. Thymic-derived CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells are indispensible for this regulation. We investigated if CD4+CD25+ Treg prevents auto-reactive responses in adult peripheral blood and cord blood. 4. 4. Effects of Complement Opsonization of HIV on Dendritic Cells : and Implications for the Immune Response

    Författare :Rada Ellegård; Marie Larsson; Jorma Hinkula; Johan D Söderholm; William Paxton; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; HIV; dendritic cells; complement; innate immune response; TLR signaling; T cell activation; NK cells; inflammation; antiviral response; immune evasion;

    Sammanfattning : Dendritic cells are key players during HIV pathogenesis, and shape both the immediate immune response at the site of infection as well as directing the adaptive immune response against the virus. HIV has developed a plethora of immune evasion mechanisms that hijack dendritic cell functions, suppressing their ability to mount an accurate immune response and exploiting them for efficient viral transfer to target T cells. 5. 5. Modulation of the Immune Response in Concordant Xenotransplantation

    Författare :Adam Bersztel; Gunnar Tufveson; Michael Olausson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Antibodies; blood transfusions; heart; pancreatic islets; tolerance; xenotransplantation; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Xenotransplantation, i.e. transplantation between different species, could be a possible solution to the present shortage of organ donors. The immunological response to a xenograft is strong and difficult to suppress. LÄS MER
