1. Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry : Exploring the Limits of Different Sample Preparation Strategies
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes two different sample preparation strategies for inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES), and their ability regarding multi element quantification in complex samples. Sensitivity, repeatability, reproducibility and accuracy were investigated. LÄS MER
2. Phosphorus recovery from sewage sludge fluidized bed gasification processes
Sammanfattning : One of the most sustainable pathways of sewage sludge treatment in recent years has been thermal conversion. The benefits of thermal treatment of sewage sludge are the recovery of energy or valuable chemical products, the destruction of harmful organic compounds, the separation of heavy metals from the P-rich coarse ash fraction, and the decreased and sanitized ash volume. 4. Characterization of suspended particulate matter from freshwater : validation of a field filtration technique
Sammanfattning : A field filtration method for the concentration and separation of suspended particulate matter (SPM) from freshwater systems and the subsequent determination of major, minor, trace and ultra trace elements (Al, As, Ba, Be, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cs, Cu, Fe, Ga, Hf, K, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Nb, Ni, P, Pb, Rb, S, Sb, Sc, Si, Sn, Sr, Ta, Th, Ti, Tl, U, V, W, Zn and Zr) is validated with respect to detection limits, precision, and bias. The validation comprises the whole procedure including filtration, sample digestion and instrumental analysis. LÄS MER
5. Coupled Liquid Separation and Spectrometric Detection of Organic Compounds Containing Hetero-atoms
Sammanfattning : This thesis exemplifies the strength in the combination of inductively coupled plasma (ICP) spectrometry and electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry ESI-MS/MS as detection techniques for liquid chromatography (LC) in the search for and investigation of compounds that bind or can bind hetero-atoms. Furthermore, some aspects involved in the coupling of LC and ICP spectrometry and quantification without identical standards have been studied. LÄS MER
