  1. 1. Stroke in the Long Term. Prognosis, comorbidity, disability, readmission, and the caregiver perspective

    Författare :Stefan Sennfält; Lund Neurologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Strokeuppföljning; Ischemisk stroke; Hjärnblödning; Samsjuklighet; Anhöriga; Återinläggning; Stroke Outcome; Ischemic Stroke; Intracerebral Haemorrhage; Comorbidity; Informal Caregivers; Readmission;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Stroke is a major cause of mortality and disability. Prognosis is constantly evolving and is affected by multiple factors, many of which have not previously been thoroughly analyzed. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Biomarkers and risk of intracerebral hemorrhage : population-based studies in northern Sweden

    Författare :Kristina Johansson; Marcus Lind; Lars Johansson; Jan-Håkan Jansson; Arne Lindgren; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Intracerebral hemorrhage; hemorrhagic stroke; factor XII; D-dimer; von Willebrand factor; ABO blood groups; phosphatidylethanol; alcohol; risk markers; biomarkers; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : BackgroundIntracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a disease associated with a high morbidity and mortality and treatment options for the condition are limited. Even though an ICH event usually comes as a surprise to the affected individual, pathogenetic processes often have occurred before the sudden ICH event and may have preceded disease onset by years. 3. 3. Preterm intraventricular haemorrhage - Effects of extracellular haemoglobin

    Författare :Snjolaug Sveinsdottir; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Intraventricular haemorrhage (IVH) is the most common brain lesion in preterm infants and is most commonly seen in the sickest children, with 15-20% of very preterm infants developing IVH. The mortality of infants with severe IVH is 20-50 % in the neonatal period and over 50 % of surviving infants develop post-haemorrhagic ventricular dilatation (PHVD) and 40-80 % develop severe neurological impairment, mainly cerebral palsy and mental retardation. 5. 5. Domain swapping as a molecular mechanism in amyloidosis

    Författare :Maria Wahlbom; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; oligomer; dimer; domain swapping; fibril; cystatin C; amyloidosis;

    Sammanfattning : Amyloidosis is a group of diseases characterized by a change in protein conformation resulting in aggregation and tissue deposition of amyloid fibrils. One variant of cystatin C, L68Q cystatin C, is highly amyloidogenic and persons carrying the corresponding gene suffer from massive cerebral amyloidosis leading to brain hemorrhage and death. LÄS MER
