  1. 1. Tensile fracture of ice : test methods and fracture mechanics analysis

    Författare :Lars Stehn; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with several aspects of fracture of both brackish (low salinity) sea ice and freshwater ice. The tests and analyses are confined to tensile, or in fracture mechanics language, Mode I, fracture. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Modelling of fracture toughness using peridynamics : A Study of J-integral, essential work and homogenisation

    Författare :Christer Stenström; Pär Jonsén; Kjell Eriksson; Ugo Galvanetto; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Peridynamics; J-integral; Essential work of fracture; Nonlocal methods; Meshless; Meshfree; Fracture; Crack tip; Exact analytical; Center cracked tension; Double edge notched tensile; fracture toughness; Peridynamik; Brottmekanik; Sprickspets; Brottseghet; Spänningsintensitet; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Fracture toughness is one of the most important properties of a material. Being able toaccurately estimate the energy that goes into forming new crack surfaces is essential for the development of new materials, quality assurance, structural monitoring and failure analysis. 3. 3. Mechanical behaviour of adhesive layers : experimental methods, cohesive laws, and fracture mechanics

    Författare :Anders Biel; Kristofer Gamstedt; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; experimental method; adhesive layer; cohesive law; fracture; fracture energy; energy release rate; peel; shear; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Teknik; Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Adhesive joining is today viewed as one of the key technologies to achieve decreased emissions in the automobile industry. To decrease weight, optimal material selection often results in different materials for different parts. This leads to the necessity to join mixed material. Here, the use of adhesives is the most promising joining technology. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On dental ceramics and their fracture : a laboratory and numerical study

    Författare :Wen Kou; Göran Sjögren; Tore Dérand; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dental ceramics; Finite element analysis; Fixed partial denture; Fracture; Numerical modeling; Surface treatment; Biomaterials; Biomaterial; odontologi; Odontology;

    Sammanfattning : Background Surface treatments and irregularities in the surfaces may affect the fracture of ceramics. The effects of various treatments on the surface texture of different types of ceramic cores/substructures was therefore qualitatively, quantitatively and numerically evaluated. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Metabolomics, body composition and fracture

    Författare :Rui Zheng; Karl Michaëlsson; Harri Sievänen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Metabolomics; LC-MS; sample quality; cohort; body composition; fracture; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik; Epidemiologi; Epidemiology; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi; Kemi med inriktning mot analytisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Analytical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I evaluated the impact of pre-centrifugation sample management on the plasma metabolome, providing verification for the protocol used in a study where I applied metabolomics to better understand the role of body composition in fracture occurrence using a large population-based cohort.  In paper 1, I applied untargeted liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) metabolomics analysis to plasma samples (n = 471) from healthy donors to predict and evaluate the effect of pre-centrifugation temperature and delay time on metabolomics data using a combination of random forest and generalized linear models.
