    Sammanfattning : This present thesis explores the hermeneutical theology of the North American catholic theologian David Tracy and the challenges plurality poses to modern theology. According to Tracy this challenge is to find a way to be open to plurality and the enrichments it brings, but that openness should not degenerate into a repressive tolerance, where anything can be said because nothing is taken seriously. Texts by Johan Olof Wallin (1779-1839)-pastor, Archbishop in the Church of Sweden, hymn writer and poet-are analyzed in detail.
