  1. 1. Chromoendoscopy with particular reference to a modified endoscopic Congo red test

    Författare :Ervin Toth; Gastroenterologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gastroenterologi; Gastro-enterology; therapy; diagnosis; gastrointestinal endoscopy; Chromoendoscopy; Congo red;

    Sammanfattning : Chromoendoscopy, endoscopic tissue staining, is an adjunctive method using chemical agents applied to the mucosal surface in order to aid gastrointestinal endoscopic diagnosis and therapy. Acid producing mucosa in the GI tract may be visualized endoscopically by Congo red staining in combination with stimulation of gastric acid production. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Luminescent molecular recognition of pathognomonic and aging associated protein aggregates

    Författare :Daniel Sjölander; Per Hammarström; Peter Nilsson; Uno Carlsson; Jan Johansson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Various protein inclusions have been recognized to be associated with aging and pathogenic conditions, such as in Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Type 2 diabetes, and the prionoses Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, Chronic wasting disease (CWD), and Mad cow disease. The causative transition of protein aggregation is the alteration in the conformation of the protein that renders the protein susceptible towards self-assembly. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Prefibrillar oligomeric Transthyretin mutants - amyloid conformation, toxicity and association with Serum amyloid P component

    Författare :Karin Andersson; Erik Lundgren; Anne Clark; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Amyloidoses represent a heterogeneous group of diseases characterized by abnormal protein metabolism leading to extracellular deposition of fibrillar, proteinaceous amyloid in various tissues and organs of the body. To date more than 20 different proteins have been linked to diseases with amyloid depositions, of which Alzheimer’s disease and the prion-associated diseases are the most well known. LÄS MER
