  1. 1. Cytokine responses in metal-induced allergic contact dermatitis : Relationship to in vivo responses and implication for in vitro diagnosis

    Författare :Jacob Minang; Marita Troye-Blomberg; Niklas Ahlborg; Rik Scheper; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metal allergy; Contact dermatitis; cytokines; ELISA; ELISpot; Flow cytometry; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Transition metals such as nickel (Ni), cobalt (Co), palladium (Pd), chromium (Cr) and gold (Au) are widely used as alloys in jewelry and biomaterials such as orthodontic and orthopaedic appliances. These metals also cause cell-mediated allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) reactions in a significant proportion of the population upon prolonged direct exposure. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Toll-like Receptors in Allergic Rhinitis

    Författare :Mattias Fransson; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neutrophils; poly I:C ; uteroglobin; Toll-like receptors; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ; Otorhinolaryngology; audiology; auditive system and speech; Otorinolaryngologi; audiologi; hörsel- och talorganen; innate immunity; LPS; allergic rhinitis; bone marrow;

    Sammanfattning : Allergic rhinitis is an inflammatory disorder with the characteristic symptoms itching, sneezing, secretion and blockage upon allergen contact. In addition to the local inflammation in the nose, there is a systemic component that influences peripheral blood, bone marrow and lungs. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Study of serotonin, innervation and sensory neuropeptides in allergic contact dermatitis

    Författare :Husameldin El-Nour; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Allergic contact dermatitis; serotonin; sensory neuropeptides; nerve density;

    Sammanfattning : In a murine model of contact allergy, 24 h after challenge with antigen, increased axonal growth using an antibody to growth-associated protein-43 (GAP-43) was seen in the epidermis and dermis of eczematous skin. Protein gene product 9.5 (PGP 9.5) positive nerve fibres tended to increase in the eczematous skin. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Clinical And Experimental Studies of Contact Allergy to Stent Metals - with focus on gold

    Författare :Susanne Ekqvist; Yrkes- och miljödermatologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; B-Au; patch testing; restenosis; contact allergy; Dermatology; metals; gold; stent; B-Ni; nickel;

    Sammanfattning : A large number of patients are treated with coronary stents, and restenosis (recurrent narrowing of the vessel) is a serious problem. Contact allergy to metal ions eluted from stainless steel stents has been suggested to contribute to in-stent restenosis. LÄS MER

  5. 5. In vitro analyses of immune responses to metal and organic haptens in humans with contact allergy

    Författare :Khosro Masjedi; Marita Troye-Blomberg; Niklas Ahlborg; Lone Skov; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ELISpot; contact allergy; parthenolide; methylisothiazolinones; nickel; hapten; Allergology; Allergologi; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Contact allergy is one of the most common skin diseases with great social and economical impact. The origin and nature of contact allergens (haptens) capable of inducing T-cell mediated allergic reactions are diverse, ranging from organic molecules to metal ions. LÄS MER
