  1. 1. Designing and Evaluating Human-Robot Communication : Informing Design through Analysis of User Interaction

    Författare :Anders Green; Kerstin Severinson Eklundh; Henrik Christensen; Candice Sidner; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Human-Robot Interaction; Human-Robot Communication; Natural language user interfaces; Interaction Design; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the design and evaluation of human-robot communication for service robots that use natural language to interact with people.  The research is centred around three themes: design of human-robot communication; evaluation of miscommunication in human-robot communication; and the analysis of spatial influence as empiric phenomenon and design element. 2. 2. Robot Sound in Interaction : Analyzing and Designing Sound for Human-Robot Coordination

    Författare :Hannah Pelikan; Leelo Keevallik; Mathias Broth; Christian Licoppe; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Conversation analysis; Ethnomethodology; Human-robot interaction; Interaction design; Multimodality; Non-lexical sounds; Robot sound; Video analysis; Etnometodologi; Icke-lexikala ljud; Interaktionsanalys; Interaktionsdesign; Multimodalitet; Människa-robotinteraktion; Robotljud; Videoanalys;

    Sammanfattning : Robots naturally emit sound, but we still know little about how sound can serve as an interface that makes a robot’s behavior explainable to humans. This dissertation draws on insights about human practices for coordinating bodily activities through sound, investigating how they could inform robot design. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Human-Robot Interaction for Semi-Autonomous Assistive Robots : Empirical Studies and an Interaction Concept for Supporting Elderly People at Home

    Författare :Marcus Mast; Arne Jönsson; Michael Burmester; Jonas Lundberg; Tony Belpaeme; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Semi-autonomous assistive robots; human-robot interaction; user interface design; teleoperation; telemanipulation; elderly people; global environment maps; stereoscopy; Semi-autonoma robotar; människa-robotinteraktion; gränssnittsdesign; distansstyrning; distansmanipulation; äldre; globala omgivningskartor; stereoskopisk;

    Sammanfattning : The research addresses current shortcomings of autonomous service robots operating in domestic environments by considering the concept of a semi-autonomous robot that would be supported by human remote operators whenever the robot cannot handle a task autonomously. The main research objective was to investigate how to design the human-robot interaction for a robotic system to assist elderly people with physical tasks at home according to this conceptual idea. 4. 4. Toward human-robot collaboration

    Författare :Kristian T. Simsarian; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Recently robots have been launched as tour-guides in museums, and as lawnmowers, in-home vacuum cleaners, and remotely operated machines in so-called distant, dangerous and dirty applications. While the methods to endow robots with a degree of autonomy have been a strong research focus, the methods for human-machine control have not been given as much attention. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Towards Designing Better Speech Agent Interaction : Using Eye Gaze for Interaction

    Författare :Razan Jaber; Barry Brown; Donald McMillan; Kerstin Fischer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Human-computer interaction; Conversational User Interfaces; Smart Speaker; Gaze Interaction; User Studies; Interaction Design; Gaze Detection; Agent Interaction; Wizard-of-Oz; data- och systemvetenskap; Computer and Systems Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : This research is about addressing the need to better understand interaction with conversational user interfaces (CUIs) and how human-technology `conversations' can be improved by drawing on the lessons learned from human-human interaction. It focuses on incorporating abstractions of complex human behaviour, specifically gaze, to enhance interactions with speech agents in conversations. LÄS MER
