Sammanfattning: The medieval Icelandic manuscript AM 234 fol. contains i.a. a version of Jóns saga helga. The major part of the older fragment AM 221 fol. consists of parts of the same saga and is thought to be the exemplar of AM 234. Diplomatic editions of the two manuscripts have been prepared in the dissertation. Palaeography and orthography of Jóns saga in AM 234 are investigated with comparisons with AM 221. The two scribes of AM 234 are compared to each other.The palaeographical and orthographical comparison between the two manuscripts reveals primarily chronological differences, but also that scribe B in AM 234 is more dependent on the exemplar than scribe A. AM 234 and AM 221 differ as concerns the shape of the miniscule . The graph is used for v-sound in AM 234, while AM 221 has insular v with a dot, <í>. Scribe A in AM 234 writes for u-sound, while scribe B and AM 221 sometimes have . There are two types of in AM 221 and in scribe B in AM 234, but only one in scribe A. There are three types of in both manuscripts, and two types of . In AM 221, we find older graphs for vowels.
