16. A multiscale approach for predicting freeze-thaw damage in asphalt mixtures
Sammanfattning : Cold and wet climates are a known threat to asphalt pavements, causing both an embrittlement of the material, making it more prone to failure, and increasing the risk of damage due to the presence of moisture in the material and freeze-thaw cycles causing expansion and contraction of the air voids as the moisture inside them freezes and thaws. This damage evolution can lead to an overall decrease of material properties and ultimately showcase itself as raveling, pot holes, and cracks. LÄS MER

18. Evaluation of Asphalt Field Cores with Simple Performance Tester and X-ray Computed Tomography
Sammanfattning : The importance of aggregate structure and air voids distribution for asphalt mixture rutting and cracking performance has been well established on the basis of experience and is well documented in the literature. Past and current investigations are limited to assessment of performance based on macroscopic behavior due to the difficulty associated with the quantitative measurement and analysis of the internal structure of asphalt mixtures. 19. Application of Automated Non-contact Resonance Testing for Low Temperature Behavior of Asphalt Concrete
Sammanfattning : Impact resonance testing is a well-documented non-destructive testing method and its applications on asphalt concrete have also been implemented successfully. The test is carried out manually by inducing an impact in order to excite the test specimen and taking measurements of the vibrational response. LÄS MER
20. Development of Energy-based Damage and Plasticity Models for Asphalt Concrete Mixtures
Sammanfattning : Characterizing the full range of damage and plastic behaviour of asphalt mixtures under varying strain-rates and stress states is a complex and challenging task. One reason for this is partly due to the strain rate and temperature dependent nature of the material as well as the variation in the properties of the constituent materials that make up the composite asphalt mixture.
