21. Contributions to Variable Fidelity MDO Framework for Collaborative and Integrated Aircraft Design
Sammanfattning : The thesis develops computational tools for early stages of the aircraft design process. The work focuses on a framework which allows several design teams concurrently to develop a baseline concept into a configuration which meets requirements and whose aerodynamics has been assessed by flight simulation. 22. Simulation and Optimization of an Axial Compressor Considering Tip Clearance Flow
Sammanfattning : With ever-increasing demands for high efficiency in axial compressors, it has become important to consider more geometrical features of the manufactured component in the design phase. Many possibilities open if the level of fidelity of the computational model can be increased. LÄS MER
23. Modal Decomposition of Separated Nozzle Flow
Sammanfattning : The applicability of two different eigenvalue algorithms coupled with an axisymmetric RANS solver to predict the eigenmodes of separated supersonic flow inside an axisymmetric convergent-divergent nozzle was investigated. These are the Arnoldi and the Dynamic Mode Decomposition (DMD) algorithms, respectively. LÄS MER
24. CFD Methods for Predicting Aircraft Scaling Effects
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the problems of scaling aerodynamic data from wind tunnel to free flight conditions. The main challenges when this scaling should be performed is how the model support, wall interference and the potentially lower Reynolds number in the windtunnel should be corrected. LÄS MER
25. Advances in vortical flow prediction methods for design of delta-winged aircraft
Sammanfattning : This thesis covers the field of vortex-flow dominated external aerodynamics. As part of the contribution to the AVT-113 task group it was possible to prove the feasibility of high Reynolds number CFD computations to resolve and thus better understand the peculiar dual vortex system encountered on the VFE-2 blunt leading edge delta wing at low to moderate incidences.
