11. Production of human heme-binding proteins in plants for potential pharmaceutical and nutritional uses
Sammanfattning : Plants have a long history as a source of nutrition and medication. In the last few decades, interest has also emerged in using plants as a production system for protein pharmaceuticals, in part due to possible scale-up- and safety-benefits with this method of production. LÄS MER
12. Colloidal synthesis of metal nanoparticles
Sammanfattning : Metal nanoparticles (NPs) are central in a wide range of industrial areas including catalytic and biomedical applications. Due to their interesting physical properties, the demand of these precious materials is steadily increasing, which has created a need for the development of effective and high-performing NPs. LÄS MER
13. Harnessing the potential of filamentous fungi for sustainable and healthy food system
Sammanfattning : Food systems have the potential to improve human health while contributing to environmental sustainability; however, they are currently endangering both. The current food system, which is often based on animal farming, is responsible for global greenhouse gas emissions, and increases the incidence of, and mortality from, non-communicable diseases. 14. Melt-processing and properties of thermoplastic composites based on ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer reinforced with wood nanocellulose
Sammanfattning : Composites reinforced with cellulose nanofibers (CNF), both modified and unmodified cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) and pulp fibers have been prepared through small-scale and large-scale methods. The composites were produced by water-assisted dispersion mixing, drying and compression moulding on the laboratory scale and by extrusion and injection moulding for the large-scale production. 15. Integration of filamentous fungi in ethanol dry-mill biorefinery
Sammanfattning : The industrial production of bioethanol as a replacement to gasoline is well-established worldwide, using starch- or sugar-rich substrates. Additionally, the bioethanol plants produce animal feeds derived from fermentation leftovers. The biorefinery character of bioethanol plants can be enhanced via process diversification. LÄS MER
