  1. 1. Strategies in the rat gambling task : Individual differences in decision-making and associations to behavior, neurobiology and human strategies

    Författare :Nikita Tjernström; Erika Roman; Barry Everitt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Behavior; copulatory test; decision-making; ethanol; gambling disorder; impulsivity; individual differences; Iowa gambling task; MALDI-MSI; multivariate concentric square field; neurobiology; novel cage; opioid antagonist; rat gambling task; resting-state fMRI; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Gambling disorder (GD) is a behavioral addiction characterized by persistent and recurrent gambling behavior that disrupts personal, social or professional life. Studies have revealed that GD shares many features with alcohol and substance use disorders, but little is known about potential unique features in GD and to what extent characteristics are shared. 2. 2. A tiny glimpse into the human brain using model-free analysis for resting-state fMRI data

    Författare :Yanlu Wang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Resting-state functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) acquires four dimensional data that indirectly depicts human brain activity. Within these four dimensional datasets reside resting-state functional connectivity networks (RFNs), depicting how the human brain is organized functionally. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Functional brain imaging of sensorimotor dysfunction and restoration : investigations of discomplete spinal cord injury and deep brain stimulation for essential tremor

    Författare :Amar Awad; Johan Eriksson; Patric Blomstedt; Richard Levi; Lars Nyberg; Rick Helmich; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Sensorimotor control; fMRI; discomplete spinal cord injury; essential tremor; deep brain stimulation; cerebello-thalamo-cerebral circuit; Physiology; fysiologi; neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery; Neurology; neurologi; rehabiliteringsmedicin; Rehabilitation Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : The nervous system exists to generate adaptive behaviour by processing sensory input from the body and the environment in order to produce appropriate motor output, and vice versa. Consequently, sensorimotor dysfunction is the basis of disability in most neurological pathologies. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Making Head or Tail of the Hippocampus : A Long-Axis Account of Episodic and Spatial Memory

    Författare :Jonas Persson; Hedvig Söderlund; Tomas Furmark; Asaf Gilboa; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hippocampus; fMRI; episodic memory; spatial memory; gender differences; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : While episodic and spatial memory both depend on the hippocampus, opposite gender differences in these functions suggest they are partly separate, with different neural underpinnings. The anterior and posterior hippocampus differ  in structure and whole-brain connectivity, and studies point to the posterior hippocampus being more involved in spatial memory while the anterior hippocampus’ role in episodic memory is less clear. 5. 5. Cognitive function, quality of life and functional brain networks : before and after glioma surgery

    Författare :Mattias Stålnacke; Rickard L. Sjöberg; Tommy Bergenheim; Johan Eriksson; Kenneth Hugdahl; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glioma; Neuropsychology; Neurosurgery; Quality of life; Supplementary Motor Area; Primary motor area. rsfMRI; fMRI; neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery; Oncology; onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate how cognitive function and quality of life are affected by glioma surgery in the supplementary motor area (SMA) and the lower primary motor cortex (M1), as well as to explore possible changes in functional network connectivity after surgery in the SMA.Sixteen patients subject to resective neurosurgical procedures due to gliomas in either the SMA or the M1 were studied.
