  1. 6. Electromagnetic Field Induced Out-of-Equilibrium Structural Dynamics in Protein Crystals: From Picoseconds to Milliseconds

    Författare :Viktor Ahlberg Gagnér; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Terahertz radiation; low frequency vibrations; B-factors; ADP tensor; bovine trypsin; FemtoMAX; resampling; femtosecond structural dynamics; millisecond structural dynamics; LCLS; displacements; distances; photosynthetic reaction center;

    Sammanfattning : Light-induced interactions in biomolecules are strongly varying over different model systems. Most amino acids and proteins absorb ultraviolet light, but only a few with specialised chromophores or fluorophores, are able to absorb light in the visible spectrum. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Model Studies of Electron Transfer and Reaction Dynamics at Surfaces

    Författare :Johan Strömquist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dissociation; desorption; oxidation; hot precursors; surface chemical reaction; chemiluminescence; surface harpooning; charge transfer; electron emission; transient mobility; non-adiabaticity;

    Sammanfattning : Charge-transfer is of key importance in many physical, chemical and biological processes, including surface reactions. This thesis consists of several theories for and model studies of surface reactions that are initiated by electron transfer between the surface to a molecule. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Enzymes as biological catalysts are immobilized in porous materials to improve the enzyme activity and simplify their purification from the reaction media in biocatalytic applications. Mesoporous silica (MPS) particles are used as a promising support material for the immobilization of enzymes. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Reaction-Diffusion kinetics of Protein DNA Interactions

    Författare :Anel Mahmutovic; Johan Elf; David van der Spoel; Pieter Rein ten Wolde; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; umbrella sampling; molecular dynamics; RDME; PDE; sliding; intersegment transfer; hopping; sterics; intersegment transfer; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biotechnology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Transcription factors need to rapidly find one specific binding site among millions of nonspecific sites on the chromosomal DNA. In this thesis I use various aspects of reaction-diffusion theory to investigate the interaction between proteins and DNA and to explain the searching, finding and binding to specific operator sites. Författare :Oksana Travnikova; Maria Novella Piancastelli; Svante Svensson; Denis Ceolin; Pascal Lablanqui; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Physics; Synchrotron radiation; X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy XPS ; X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy XAS ; Resonant Auger Spectroscopy RAS ; Auger Electron Spectroscopy AES ; Energy-Selected Auger Electron PhotoIon COincidence ES-AEPICO ; core excitation; core ionization; linear free energy relationships LFER ; molecular-field splitting; substituent effects; nuclear dynamics; isomerization; Cl2; N2O; methane derivatives; allene; acetylacetone; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we have performed core-electron spectroscopy studies of gas phase molecular systems starting with smaller diatomic, continuing with triatomic and extending our research to more complex polyatomic ones. We can subdivide the results presented here into two categories: the first one focusing on electronic fine structure and effect of the chemical bonds on molecular core-levels and the other one dealing with nuclear dynamics induced by creation of a core hole.
