16. Optical detection of joint position in zero gap laser beam welding
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents an experimental study on how to track zero gaps between metal sheets to be joined by laser beam butt welding. Automated laser beam welding is gaining interest due to its ability to produce narrow and deep welds giving limited heat input and therefore less distortions compared to other processes, such as arc-welding. 17. Position-sensitive germanium detectors for gamma-ray tracking, imaging and polarimetry
Sammanfattning : Modern germanium detectors are often manufactured with two-dimensionally segmented electrical contacts. Signals induced in each segment are read out simultaneously when a photon is detected. Detailed pulse shape analysis (PSA) of these signals allows to resolve positions of individual γ-ray interactions with a precision of at least a few mm. LÄS MER
18. Novel detection schemes and high resolution separations in microcolumn liquid separations
Sammanfattning : Three micro detectors were developed and studied using micro-liquidchromatography (micro-LC). An evaporative light scattering detector (ELSD) nebulizer was developed for use with flow rates ranging from 0.5 to 10 µL/min. LÄS MER
19. High Resolution Tip-Enhanced Raman Images of Single Molecules from First Principles Simulations
Sammanfattning : With the precise control of spatially confined plasmon (SCP), tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (TERS) has achieved sub-nanometer resolution, leading to the chemical and physical characterization of the single molecule by optical Raman images. In the high resolution TERS measurements, the SCP spatial distribution generates the position-dependent Raman images. LÄS MER
20. Gas Exchange in the Normal Lung : Experimental studies on the effects of positive end-expiratory pressure and body position
Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND: The principal function of the lung is gas exchange requiring adequate ventilation and perfusion at the level of the alveoli. The efficiency of gas exchange is depending on the distributions of regional ventilation (V) and pulmonary blood flow (Q) and their correlation. LÄS MER
