1. Electrochemistry of Heme Containing Enzymes - Fundamentals and Applications
Sammanfattning : The thesis is a bioelectrochemical study of heme enzymes, mainly peroxidases and cellobiose dehydrogenases (CDH). It covers both fundamental and applied aspects, viz. studies of the direct electron transfer and kinetics of enzymes on electrodes, and the development of amperometric enzyme-based biosensors. 2. Sample Handling Techniques in Biological and Environmental Applications Emphasizing Biomolecular Recognition and MALDI-TOF MS
Sammanfattning : The use of restricted access media and other stationary phases for clean-up and trace enrichment of environmental samples coupled on-line to liquid chromatography using diode array detection as well as thermospray MS is described. This on-line configuration was compared with commercially available ELISAs for the determination of triazines in complex matrices, showing superior precision and accuracy with the chromatographic method. 3. Development of a Bioelectronic Tongue -Applications for Wastewater Analysis
Sammanfattning : A bioelectronic tongue has been developed for applications in wastewater analysis. The development of a biosensor array with complex signal analysis started from the idea of using group-selective phenol biosensors (tyrosinase and horseradish peroxidase) with chemometric analysis for signal processing. 4. Ionic and electronic transport in electrochemical and polymer based systems
Sammanfattning : Electrochemical systems, which rely on coupled phenomena of the chemical change and electricity, have been utilized for development an interface between biological systems and conventional electronics. The development and detailed understanding of the operation mechanism of such interfaces have a great importance to many fields within life science and conventional electronics. LÄS MER
5. Facilitating electron transfer in bioelectrocatalytic systems
Sammanfattning : Bioelectrocatalytic systems are based on biological entities, such as enzymes, whole cells, parts of cells or tissues, which catalyse electrochemical processes that involve the interaction between chemical change and electrical energy. In all cases, biocatalysis is implemented by enzymes, isolated or residing inside cells or part of cells. LÄS MER
