1. Drum sound from floor coverings - objective and subjective assessment
Sammanfattning : Drum sound is the sound produced when an object, such as a foot, hits the flooring in the room in which the receiving ear is located. Drum sound has attracted interest in recent years, particularly due to an increased use of thin floating floor constructions, such as veneer or laminate flooring, which can produce loud and sharp walking sound. 2. Studies of the Role of the Gastrointestinal Tract in Children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA)
Sammanfattning : Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is the most common rheumatic disease in children, but its cause is not fully established. Changes in the intestinal canal and an unfavourable composition of gut bacteria have been suggested as factors that can increase the risk of developing JIA and influence the disease course. LÄS MER
3. Development and three-dimensional histology of vertebrate dermal fin spines
Sammanfattning : Jawed vertebrates (gnathostomes) consist of two clades with living representatives, the chondricthyans (cartilaginous fish including sharks, rays, and chimaeras) and the osteichthyans (bony fish and tetrapods), and two fossil groups, the "placoderms" and "acanthodians". These extinct forms were thought to be monophyletic, but are now considered to be paraphyletic partly due to the discovery of early chondrichthyans and osteichthyans with characters that had been previously used to define them. 4. Interstitial laser thermotherapy (ILT) of breast cancer - Methodology and immunological responce
Sammanfattning : Interstitial laser thermotherapy (ILT) is an attractive form of local therapy against cancer because of its anti-tumor immune activity. The aim of this work was to evaluate ILT in breast cancer with respect to technique, changes in tissue immunocompetent cells and effect on prognosis. LÄS MER
5. The rolling resistances of roller skis and their effects on human performance during treadmill roller skiing
Sammanfattning : Modern ski-treadmills allow cross-country skiers, biathletes and ski-orienteers to test their physical performance in a laboratory environment using classical and freestyle techniques on roller skis. For elite athletes the differences in performance between test occasions are quite small, thus emphasising the importance of knowing the roller skis’ rolling resistance coefficient, µR, in order to allow correct comparisons between the results, as well as providing the opportunity to study work economy between different athletes, test occasions and core techniques.
