  1. 1. Wind-induced vibrations in tall timber buildings : Design standards, experimental and numerical modal analyses

    Författare :Pierre Landel; Andreas Linderholt; Marie Johansson; Sigurdur Ormarsson; Petter Juell Nåvik; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tall Timber Building; Wind-Induced vibration; Along-Wind Acceleration; Modal Analysis; Forced Vibration Test; Finite Element Model Reduction; Truss; Semi-Rigid Connection; Bâtiment en Bois de Grande Hauteur; Vibration Induite par le Vent; Accélération Parallèle au Vent; Analyse Modale; Test de Vibration Forcée; Réduction de Modèle aux Eléments finis; Poteau Treillis; Connexion Semi-Rigide; Hög Trähus; Vindinducerad Vibration; Acceleration Längs med Vinden; Modalanalys; Forcerat Vibrationstest; Finita Element Modellreduktion; Fackverk; Halvstyva Förband; Maskinteknik; Mechanical Engineering; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change and densification of cities are two major global challenges. Inthe building and construction industry, there are great expectations that tall timberbuildings will constitute one of the most sustainable solutions. First, verticalurban growth is energy and resource-efficient. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Female choice and paternal care in the fifteen-spined stickleback, Spinachia spinachia

    Författare :Sara Östlund-Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; fifteen-spined stickleback; spinachia spinachia; female choice; paternal care; nest building; ornament; fanning; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi; Animal Ecology; zooekologi;

    Sammanfattning : In the fifteen-spined stickleback, Spinachia spinachia, males provide females with direct benefits by fanning, cleaning and guarding the offspring. Males announce their parental skills through intense body shakes during courtship. Females preferred to mate with more intensely shaking males. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Sexual selection in Pomatoschistus – nests, sperm competition, and paternal care

    Författare :Ola Svensson; Charlotta Kvarnemo; Sigal Balshine; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Female choice; Filial cannibaism; Gobiidae; Nests; Paternal care; Pomatoschistus microps; Pomatoschistus minutus; Sexual selection; Sperm competition; Teleostei; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Sexual selection arises through variation in reproductive success. This thesis investigates different aspects important in sexual selection, namely nest building, sperm competition, paternity and paternal care, and their mutual interrelationships. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Pup mortality in laboratory mice : influence of maternal behaviour and housing environment

    Författare :Elin Weber; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Successful mouse breeding is a crucial part of providing animals for research. However, loss of single pups or entire litters after birth is a relatively common problem. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Getting informed in a risky world : risk assessment, predator information & parental decisions

    Författare :Nicole Schneider; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Predation ultimately affects the fitness of individuals. In nest building species like birds, the predation of dependent offspring is the most important source of reproductive failure, favouring the selection of parental adaptations to enhance offspring survival. LÄS MER
