  1. 1. Effects of Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals on Human Endometrial Endothelial Cells In Vitro

    Författare :Malin Helmestam; Matts Olovsson; Anneli Stavreus-Evers; Yvonne Lundberg Giwercman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; endocrine disrupting chemicals; hormones; human endometrial endothelial cells; endometrium; estrogen; progesterone; cadmium; tamoxifen; mifepristone; bisphenol A; angiogenesis; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Evidence from an abundant number of studies suggests that human female reproductive functions have become impaired over the past half century and that there might be a relationship between endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and reduced fertility. It is, however, not known by what mechanisms EDCs affect different reproductive functions such as endometrial receptivity, embryo implantation and placentation. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Mifepristone for preoperative treatment of uterine leiomyoma

    Författare :Mikael Engman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : AIM: To explore the clinical impact and its molecular regulation on uterine leiomyomas in preoperative treatment with mifepristone, a progesterone receptor modulator (PRM). BACKGROUND: Uterine leiomyomas are highly prevalent in fertile women, increasing with age up to 35-50 % in a population approaching the age of 50. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Improving medical abortion : using mifepristone in combination with a prostaglandin analogue

    Författare :Christian Fiala; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical abortion; mifepristone; misoprostol; slow release; home use; hCG; ultrasound; verification of expulsion; non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug; pain relief; second trimester; uterine contractility; acceptability;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Induced abortion is still a major health problem in the world and the most frequently performed intervention in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with an estimated total of 46 millions worldwide each year. Medical abortion with mifepristone and prostaglandin was first introduced in 1988, and is now approved in 29 countries. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Effects of mifepristone on the human endometrium and the fallopian tube during the luteal phase

    Författare :Xiaoxi Sun; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Mifepristone; endometrial receptivity; emergency contraception; PR-B; eNOS; IGFBP-1; PRL; HB-EGF; HB-EGF receptors HER1 and HER4;

    Sammanfattning : Mifepristone given postovulatory has been shown effective for contraception, but the precise mechanism of action is still poorly understood. A better understanding of the mechanisms of action of mifepristone, when used for contraception, is important for further development and optimizing the regimen of use. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Endometrial receptivity and development of new contraceptive methods

    Författare :Lena Marions; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Mifepristone; levonorgestrel; endometrial receptivity; emergency contraception; blastocyst implantation; integrins; cyclooxygenase;

    Sammanfattning : Ovulation and endometrial development as well as contraceptive efficacy was studied after treatment with the antiprogestin mifepristone. Mechanism of action after treatment with the gestagen levonorgestrel or mifepristone in doses effective for emergency contraception was also evaluated. LÄS MER
