  2. 2. Mercury and radiocesium in Swedish lakes

    Författare :Tord Andersson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Two large, nationwide monitoring data sets were compiled and statistically treated in order to create a national picture of the problems with high contents of mercury (Hg) and radiocesium (137Cs) in fish. Beside these two data sets, 75 lakes in four counties (Västernorrland, Gävleborg, Örebro and Kronoberg) were studied in connection to an evaluation of different measures to decrease the content of Hg and 137Cs in fish. 4. 4. Environmental influence on Hg and 137Cs levels in perch (Perca fluviatilis L.) and roach (Rutilus rutilus L.) from circumneutral lakes

    Författare :Lars Sonesten; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Hg; 137Cs; fish; PLS; land use; cations; humic substances; circumneutral; Biologi; Biology; Biologi; limnologi; Limnology;

    Sammanfattning : Mercury and radioactive caesium have received immense attention in Sweden during the past decades, as common contaminants in fish. This thesis examines how the Hg and 137Cs levels in fish from 79 circumneutral lakes are affected by various environmental factors. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Unraveling the importance of solid and adsorbed phase mercury speciation for methylmercury formation, evasion and bioaccumulation

    Författare :Sofi Jonsson; Erik Björn; Ulf Skyllberg; Erik Lundberg; Per Persson; Robert Mason; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mercury; methylmercury; aquatic systems; estuary; Hg; MeHg; bioaccumulation; methylation; demethylation; evasion; sediment; water; terrestrial sources; atmospheric sources; climate change; eutrophication;

    Sammanfattning : Monomethylmercury, MeHg, is formed under anoxic conditions in waters, sediments and soils and then bioaccumulated and biomagnified in aquatic food webs, negatively effecting both human and wildlife health. It is generally accepted that precipitation of mercury, Hg, and adsorption of Hg to e.g. LÄS MER
