  1. 1. SOFC Modeling from Micro- to Macroscale: Transport Processes and Chemical Reactions

    Författare :Hedvig Paradis; Värmeöverföring; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mass transport; diffusion; microscale; porous media; kinetics; LBM; CFD; anode multicomponent; MATLAB;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this work is to investigate the interaction between transport processes and chemical reactions, with special emphasis on modeling mass transport by the Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) at microscale of the anode of a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC). In order to improve the performance of an SOFC, it is important to determine the microstructural effect embedded within the physical and chemical processes, which usually are modeled macroscopically. 2. 2. The Use of Supercritical Fluids to Reduce the Number of Phases in Catalytic Hydrogenation: The Reaction of Fatty Acid Methyl Esters to Fatty Alcohols

    Författare :Sander van den Hark; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fatty alcohols; single phase; deactivation; mass transport; phase reduction; supercritical fluids; hydrogenation; propane; kinetics; catalysis;

    Sammanfattning : Supercritical fluids have unique properties - between those of liquids and gases - making them attractive reaction media. In this study, propane was used to change a heterogeneous catalyst from being substrate-covered in gas-liquid hydrogenation reactions into hydrogen-covered in our experiments. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Electrochemical characterisation of porous cathodes in the polymer electrolyte fuel cell

    Författare :Frédéric Jaouen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :polymer electrolyte fuel cell; cathode; mass transport; porous electrode; modelling; agglomerate model; electrochemical impedance spectroscopy; current interrupt; transient techniques; non-noble catalysts;

    Sammanfattning : Polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFC) convert chemicalenergy into electrical energy with higher efficiency thaninternal combustion engines. They are particularly suited fortransportation applications or portable devices owing to theirhigh power density and low operating temperature. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On the adsorption behaviour of saliva and purified salivary proteins at solid/liquid interfaces

    Författare :Liselott Lindh; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acidic proline-rich proteins; adsorption; BSM; diffusion; ellipsometry; interfaces; mass transport limitation; mucins; MUC5B; saliva; salivary proteins; statherin; surface properties;

    Sammanfattning : Den salivfilm som bildas genom selektiv proteinadsorption på ytor i munhålan har stor profylaktisk betydelse genom sin skyddande funktion och befrämjar därigenom oral hälsa. Några av de adsorberade komponenterna har smörjande funktion (t ex muciner, sura prolinrika proteiner (PRP) och statherin), som är viktig bl a för att förhindra slitage mellan tandytor vid tuggning och hos gnisslare. 5. 5. Simulating ion transport in electrolyte materials with physics-based and machine-learning models

    Författare :Yunqi Shao; Chao Zhang; Peter Broqvist; Carl Nettelblad; Barbara Kirchner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; electrolytes; ionic conductivity; ion transport; molecular dynamics; machine learning potential; proton transfer; Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot oorganisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Electrolytes are indispensable components of electrochemical devices such as batteries, fuel cells, and supercapacitors, and the mass transport in electrolytes is one of the most important design focuses of such devices. A microscopic picture of ion transport is essential to link the chemical properties of electrolyte materials to their electrochemical applications. LÄS MER
