  1. 16. Distensibility in Arteries, Arterioles and Veins in Humans : Adaptation to Intermittent or Prolonged Change in Regional Intravascular Pressure

    Författare :Roger Kölegård; Ola Eiken; Toste Länne; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; arterial stiffness; venous distensibility; venous flow characteristics; bedrest; pressure training; Physiology; Fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The present series of in vivo experiments in healthy subjects, were performed to investigate wall stiffness in peripheral vessels and how this modality adapts to iterative increments or sustained reductions in local intravascular pressures. Vascular stiffness was measured as changes in arterial and venous diameters, and in arterial flow, during graded increments in distending pressures in the vasculature of an arm or a lower leg. 2. 17. Response of Bolivian Altiplano Lakes to Seasonal and Annual Climate Variations

    Författare :Ramiro Pillco; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []

    Sammanfattning : The Bolivian Altiplano is situated between two mountain ranges, the western and eastern central Andes in South America. It has two major lakes, Lake Titicaca to the north, and Lake Poopó to the south, which both are important for the nature as well as for the living conditions on the Altiplano. The two lakes are the remnants of large paleolakes. LÄS MER

  3. 18. The physiological impact of soccer on elite female players and the effects of active recovery training

    Författare :Helena M. Andersson; Fawzi Kadi; Carl Johan Sundberg; Örebro universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Female soccer is becoming more popular and professional in the world. There are, however, limited scientific data available on how elite female players respond to physical stress during soccer games. An effective recovery strategy following a game is important, because there are few recovery days between the games in international tournaments. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Quality of life in patients with cronical lower limb ischaemia: Before and after revascularisation

    Författare :Rosemarie Klefsgård; Institutionen för hälsovetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasti; By-Pass; critical ischaemia; Intermittent claudication; Sence of Coherence; Short Form 36; Quality of life; Nottingham Health Profile; traumatologi; ortopedi; Kirurgi; traumatology; orthopaedics; Surgery; Validity; Responsiveness; Effect Size; Outcome;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to assess quality of life in patients with varying degrees of lower limb ischaemia before and after revascularisation, to assess quality of life in relation to the degree of ischaemia and the respondents’ sense of coherence (SOC) and in comparison with a healthy control group, and to compare two different quality of life instruments regarding their usefulness as outcome measures. Patients were assessed using the Nottingham Health Profile (NHP) and the SOC scale before and six months after successful revascularisation and compared with 102 healthy controls. LÄS MER
