  1. 1. Ecology and Evolution of Adaptive Morphological Variation in Fish Populations

    Författare :Richard Svanbäck; Peter Eklöv; Lennart Persson; Beren Robinson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; competition; functional morphology; individual specialization; inter-individual variation; intra-population variation; morphological variation; ontogeny; Perca fluviatilis; perch; phenotypic plasticity; predation; trade-offs; Ekologi; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : The work in this thesis deals with the ecology and evolution of adaptive individual variation. Ecologists have long used niche theory to describe the ecology of a species as a whole, treating conspecific individuals as ecological equivalent. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Teaching for the learning of additive part-whole relations : The power of variation and connections

    Författare :Anna-Lena Ekdahl; Ulla Runesson Kempe; Hamsa Venkat; Camilla Björklund; Christiane Benz; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; variation; variation theory; connections in teaching; making connections; early numbers; teaching and learning additive relations; part-whole relation; part-whole relations of numbers; intervention study;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, results from four empirical studies and a re-analysis are synthesized with what can constitute a structural approach to teaching and learning additive part-whole relations among learners aged four to eight years. In line with a structural approach to additive relations, the relations of parts and whole are in focus from the outset and are seen as the basis for addition and subtraction (Davydov 1982; Neuman, 1987). 3. 3. Population-level consequences of variation

    Författare :Lena Wennersten; Anders Forsman; Olof Leimar; Deepa Agashe; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; colour polymorphism; diversity; establishment success; evolutionary changes; population-level consequences; predation risk; Tetrix subulata; variation; Evolutionary Biology; Evolutionsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Consequences of within population variation have recently attracted an increased interest in evolutionary ecology research. Theoretical models suggest important population-level consequences, but many of these predictions still remain to be tested. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Återbesök i Eskilstuna : En undersökning av morfologisk variation och förändring i nutida talspråk

    Författare :Eva Sundgren; Lars-Gunnar Andersson; Bengt Nordberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Scandinavian languages - general; Sociolinguistic variation; language change; spoken Swedish; Eskilstuna; morphology; real time; apparent time; panel study; trend study; individual change; generational change; intralinguistic constraints; salience; quantitative analysis; implicational scaling; local integration; social mobility; Nordiska språk - allmänt; Scandinavian languages; Nordiska språk; nordiska språk; Scandinavian Languages; Languages and linguistics;

    Sammanfattning : Real-time replications of empirical studies of language use are scarce. This study of language change in real time replicates an investigation of the social variation of spoken Swedish in the medium-sized town of Eskilstuna, using data collected 29 years after the original study. 5. 5. Utrymme för variation : - om prövning av socialbidrag

    Författare :Hugo Stranz; Åke Bergmark; Björn Gustafsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; social assistance; social workers; assessments; vignettes; organization; discretion; regulations; Social work; Socialt arbete; socialt arbete; Social Work;

    Sammanfattning : The overarching aim of this dissertation is to study divergences in assessments of social assistance in Swedish social welfare offices. ‘Assessments’ here refers to whether applications for social assistance are granted or not, as well as the size of subsidies. LÄS MER
