  1. 1. Evolutionary aspects of the immunoglobulin heavy chain constant locus

    Författare :Hodjatallah Rabbani; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The human Ig heavy chain constant locus (IGHC) is composed of nine functional and two pseudo genes. Extensive polymorphism consisting of deletions, duplications and point mutations have been observed in this locus. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Transcription factors regulating the immunoglobulin heavy chain locus

    Författare :Tove Andersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The immunoglobulin heavy (IgH) chain locus is subject to somatic recombination and changes in gene expression in B lineage cells. Enhancers located in the 3' end of the locus may in part regulate these events. This work aimed at increasing the understanding of the function of one of these elements, the HS1,2 enhancer. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The immunoglobulin heavy chain 3ʼ enhancer : coupling of basic-Helix-Loop-Helix proteins to the regulation of enhancer function

    Författare :Velmurugesan Arulampalam; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : During B lymphocyte development, the transcriptional activity of the IgH locus is subject to spatial and temporal changes. One cis-control element, the IgH 3' enhancer, has been implicated in regulating functional events in late B cell development. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Intracellular processing of pre-a-inhibitor

    Författare :Maria Thuveson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; pre-alpha-inhibitor; heavy chain 3; bikunin; intracellular processing; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Biochemistry; medicinsk biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Pre-α-inhibitor (PαI) is a plasma protein consisting of a 25 and a 75 kDa polypeptide: bikunin and heavy chain 3 (H3), respectively. Both these polypeptides are made by hepatocytes and while passing through the Golgi complex, bikunin, which carries a chondroitin sulfate chain, becomes covalently linked to the C-terminal amino acid residue of H3 via its polysaccharide. 5. 5. Regulation of germline transcription in the immunoglobulin heavy chain locus

    Författare :Jurga Laurencikiene; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : During an immune response, activated B cells develop into high rate immunoglobulin (Ig) secreting plasma cells. They also switch from production of IgM to IgG, IgA or IgE. Specific isotypes of antibodies have functional and structural features that make them particularly well suited to defend against different types of pathogens. LÄS MER
