  1. 1. Towards frost damage prediction in asphaltic pavements

    Författare :Lisa Lövqvist; Nicole Kringos; Romain Balieu; Robert Karlsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; frost damage; winter damage; asphalt; pavements; micromechanical model; microstructure; freeze-thaw cycles; finite element model; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Roads are subjected to mechanical loads from the traffic as well as deteriorating mechanisms originating from the surrounding environment and climate. The damage arising is particularly severe during the winter season, when for example raveling, pot holes and cracks can emerge on the surfaces of asphaltic roads. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Internal frost damage in concrete - experimental studies of destruction mechanisms

    Författare :Katja Fridh; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tining; frysning; kallt klimat; frostskador skador; betong; materiallära; materialteknik; frost; ice formation; material technology; calorimetry; concrete; length change; upptining; fukt; beständighet; livslängd; forskning;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the study was to identify mechanisms acting at internal frost destruction of concrete. By 'internal frost destruction' is meant damage caused inside concrete that is moisture insulated from the surroundings, i.e. when no moisture exchange with the surroundings is possible during freeze-thaw. 3. 3. Modeling frost heave damages throughout the asphalt layer

    Författare :Saeed Vosoughian; Romain Balieu; Inge Hoff; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Asphalt pavement; Frost heave; Viscoelastic damage model; Thermomechanical approach.; Asfaltbeläggning; tjällyft; viskoelastisk skademodell; termomekanisk ansats.; Bro- och stålbyggnad; Structural Engineering and Bridges;

    Sammanfattning : There are various distresses arising from traffic loads and the surrounding environment to whichan asphalt pavement is subjected during its life span. The environment-associated damages aremore severe during winter when abundant moisture and freezing temperature are presentsimultaneously. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Frost-induced deterioration of concrete in hydraulic structures : Interactions between water absorption, leaching and frost action

    Författare :MARTIN ROSENQVIST; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Nyckelord :Vattenbyggnader; Dammar; Betong; Cement; Vattenabsorption; Vattenmättnadsgrad; Nedbrytning; Frostbeständighet; Spjälkning; Makroskopisk islinsbildning; Urlakning; Synergi; Hydraulic structures; Dams; Concrete; Cement; Water absorption; Degree of saturation; Deterioration; Frost resistance; Spalling; Macroscopic ice lens growth; Leaching; Synergy;

    Sammanfattning : Frost deterioration of concrete can result in severe consequences to the safety, durability and functionality of a structure since it impairs the strength of the concrete. Frost damage may occur to structures that are in contact with water and subjected to frost action. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Load-Carrying Capacity of Damaged Concrete Structures

    Författare :Kamyab Zandi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; frost; bond properties; material properties.; Existing concrete structures; load-carrying capacity; corrosion of reinforcement;

    Sammanfattning : AbstractA growing need for better assessment of existing structures has revealed the need for improved understanding of structural effects of deterioration. The two most common causes of deterioration in concrete structures are corrosion of reinforcement and freezing of concrete. LÄS MER
