  1. 1. Internal frost damage in concrete - experimental studies of destruction mechanisms

    Författare :Katja Fridh; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tining; frysning; kallt klimat; frostskador skador; betong; materiallära; materialteknik; frost; ice formation; material technology; calorimetry; concrete; length change; upptining; fukt; beständighet; livslängd; forskning;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the study was to identify mechanisms acting at internal frost destruction of concrete. By 'internal frost destruction' is meant damage caused inside concrete that is moisture insulated from the surroundings, i.e. when no moisture exchange with the surroundings is possible during freeze-thaw. 2. 2. Environmental Impact of Concrete Structures - with Focus on Durability and Resource Efficiency

    Författare :Nadia Al-Ayish; Folke Björk; Kjartan Gudmundsson; Katarina Malaga; Otto During; Katja Fridh; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Life cycle assessment; environmental impact; concrete structures; resource efficiency; durability; supplementary cementitious materials; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Concrete is essential for the construction industry with characteristic properties that make it irreplaceable in some aspects. However, due to the large volumes consumed and the energy intense cement clinker production it also has a notable climate impact. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Numerical models for degradation of concrete in hydraulic structures due to long-term contact with water

    Författare :Daniel Eriksson; Anders Ansell; Richard Malm; Erik Nordström; Katja Fridh; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; degradation; deterioration mechanisms; hydraulic structures; air-entrained concrete; multiphase model; long-term moisture conditions; pore size distribution; freezing; partially saturated; finite element method; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The durability of concrete is of major concern in all types of concrete structures where the combined effect of exposure conditions and the type and quality of the concrete material usually determines the rate of degradation. Furthermore, there are synergy effects between different deterioration mechanisms, which means that the combined rate of degradation is higher than the sum of the individual rates of each mechanism.
