11. Flexible Scheduling for Media Processing in Resource Constrained Real-Time Systems
Sammanfattning : The MPEG-2 standard for video coding is predominant in consumer electronics for DVD players, digital satellite receivers, and TVs today. MPEG-2 processing puts high demands on audio/video quality, which is achieved by continuous and synchronized playout without interrupts. At the same time, there are restrictions on the storage media, e.g. LÄS MER
12. Requirement and Availability of Scarce Metals for Fuel-Cell and Battery Electric Vehicles
Sammanfattning : Battery and fuel-cell electric vehicles (EVs) are considered as a means to meet some of the environmental and resource challenges of todays road vehicle system. EVs have the potential for zero tailpipe emissions as well as an energy efficiency higher than internal combustion engine vehicles and they can be flexible concerning primary energy source. LÄS MER
13. Advanced Materials for Rechargeable Lithium Batteries
Sammanfattning : Lithium rechargeable batteries have gained much attention in the pursuit for alternative energy sources because of advantages such as high energy density and high electric potential. In addition, the development of low-cost materials has been of interest to reduce the cost of batteries, especially those destined for transportation applications such as electric (EVs) or hybrid-electric vehicles (HEVs). 14. Design and Characterisation of new Anode Materials for Lithium-Ion Batteries
Sammanfattning : Reliable ways of storing energy are crucial to support our modern way of life; lithium-ion batteries provide an attractive solution. The constant demand for higher energy density, thinner, lighter and even more mechanically flexible batteries has motivated research into new battery materials. Some of these will be explored in this thesis. LÄS MER
15. Optimal Energy and Flexibility Dispatch of Grid-Connected Microgrids
Sammanfattning : This thesis proposes an optimization model to efficiently schedule energy and flexibilities of a grid-connected microgrid (MG) with non-dispatchable renewable energy sources and battery energy storages (BESs). The model can also be used to coordinate the MG operation with the connected upstream distribution grid and to assess the MG flexibility considering economic viability, technical feasibility, and BES degradation.
