Sammanfattning : This dissertation begins with a question: What is the meaning of ‘flesh’ [chair] in Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s The visible and the invisible? In answering this question, I try to grasp, not only the manifold meanings of flesh in The visible and the invisible, but also the reasons why the meaning of this concept cannot be neatly encompassed. Starting from Merleau-Ponty’s understanding of philosophical language, I explore how the concept of flesh works as a linguistic concept, and how it is meaningful because of its ability to call already established meanings into question. As the conversation unfolds, the outline of a new ontology is progressively sketched out – one that seeks to preserve the integrity of human beings as part of the natural world, as well as the integrity of the natural world in the presence of human existence. 4. Lipids in common carp (Cyprinus carpio) and effects on human health
Sammanfattning : There is evidence that n-3 fatty acids (FA), especially EPA and DHA, are beneficial for human health. This thesis examined factors influencing FA composition in common carp flesh, sought to develop a procedure for long-term sustainable culture of common carp with improved muscle lipid quality (omega 3 carp) and studied the health benefits of eating such carp in the secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease.
