  1. 11. Deformation mechanisms and load distribution in multi-phase engineering materials

    Författare :Nitesh Raj Jaladurgam; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Deformation mechanisms; Electron microscopy; Eutectic high entropy alloys; Load distribution; Superalloys; In-situ neutron diffraction;

    Sammanfattning : While the transition to carbon neutral technologies is still in progress, it is vital to reduce the environmental impact of existing processes. The efficiency of combustion processes for e.g. power generation and aviation can be greatly improved by increasing the operating temperature. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Microstructure and deformation behaviour of ductile iron under tensile loading

    Författare :Keivan Amiri Kasvayee; Anders E.W. Jarfors; Ehsan Ghassemali; Lennart Elmquist; Kenneth Hamberg; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ductile iron; digital image correlation DIC ; in-situ tensile test; pit etching; Microscale deformation; micro-crack; finite elements analysis FEA ; cohesive elements;

    Sammanfattning : The current thesis focuses on the deformation behaviour and strain distribution in the microstructure of ductile iron during tensile loading. Utilizing Digital Image Correlation (DIC) and in-situ tensile test under optical microscope, a method was developed to measure high resolution strain in microstructural constitutes. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Biomaterial Components Prepared by Titanium Powder Technology

    Författare :Mikael Eriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; dental; coping; biomaterial; titanium-hydroxyapatite composite; crown; cold isostatic pressing; deformation; titanium powder; high velocity compaction; powder metallurgy;

    Sammanfattning : The main objectives of this work were twofold: First, to determine if a pressed-powder method could be used to fabricate titanium dental copings, and to line out what problems or benefits this new method would have. Second, to test if high velocity compaction of titanium powder could be used to form biomaterial components such as copings or dental implants. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Mechanistic-Empirical Modelling of Flexible Pavement Performance : Verifications Using APT Measurements

    Författare :Abubeker W. Ahmed; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Hervè Di Benedetto; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Performance; Deformation; Model not math ; Rutting wheel ; Viscoelasticity; Elasticity; Axle load; Flexible pavement; Laboratory not an organization ; Test; Thesis; Heavy vehicle simulator; Wheel tracking test; 32 Road: Pavement design; 32 Road: Pavement design; Transportvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Mechanistic-Empirical  (M-E)  pavement  design  procedures  are  composed  of  a  reliable  response model to estimate the state of stress in the pavement and distress models in order to predict the different types of pavement distresses due to the prevailing traffic and environmental conditions. One of the main objectives of this study was to develop a response model based on multilayer elastic  theory   (MLET)  with  improved  computational  performance  by   optimizing  the   time consuming parts of the MLET processes. 5. 15. Numerical Analysis of Moisture-Related Distortion in Sawn Timber

    Författare :Sigurdur Ormarsson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Computer simulations; Deformation; Wood; Moisture; Drying; Finite element method; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : A 3D theory for the numerical simulation of deformations and stresses in wood during moisture variation is described. The constitutive model employed assumes the total strain rate to be the sum of the elastic strain rate, the moisture-induced strain rate, the mechano-sorption strain rate and the creep strain rate.
