  1. 1. Municipal street pavement maintenance and management practices in Sweden

    Författare :Muhammad Amjad Afridi; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Inge Hoff; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; municipalities; street maintenance; pavement management systems; questionnaire; pavement deterioration; cold climate; performance prediction models; machine learning; random forest; pavement condition index; Building Materials; Byggnadsmaterial;

    Sammanfattning : A well-functioning street network is pivotal in the socio-economic development of a region. Street networks not only facilitate the movement of people and goods but also allocate space for utility services. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Mechanistic-Empirical Modelling of Flexible Pavement Performance : Verifications Using APT Measurements

    Författare :Abubeker W. Ahmed; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Hervè Di Benedetto; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Performance; Deformation; Model not math ; Rutting wheel ; Viscoelasticity; Elasticity; Axle load; Flexible pavement; Laboratory not an organization ; Test; Thesis; Heavy vehicle simulator; Wheel tracking test; 32 Road: Pavement design; 32 Road: Pavement design; Transportvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Mechanistic-Empirical  (M-E)  pavement  design  procedures  are  composed  of  a  reliable  response model to estimate the state of stress in the pavement and distress models in order to predict the different types of pavement distresses due to the prevailing traffic and environmental conditions. One of the main objectives of this study was to develop a response model based on multilayer elastic  theory   (MLET)  with  improved  computational  performance  by   optimizing  the   time consuming parts of the MLET processes. 3. 3. Ground vibrations due to pile and sheet pile driving : influencing factors, predictions and measurements

    Författare :Fanny Deckner; Staffan Hintze; Kenneth Viking; Sigurdur Erlingsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ground vibration; pile; sheet pile; prediction; markvibrationer; påle; spont; prediktion;

    Sammanfattning : Ground vibrations due to pile driving are part of a complex process. Vibration is generated from the pile driver to the pile. As the pile interacts with the surrounding soil, vibrations are transferred at the pile-soil interface. The vibration propagates through the ground and interacts with structures, both above ground and underground. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Cycle paths’ degradation processes and surface condition assessment

    Författare :Martin Larsson; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Anna Niska; Inge Hoff; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; construction design; cycle paths; degradation; distress modes; maintenance; municipalities; survey; cycling comfort; road surface measurements; surface evenness; surface texture; Building Materials; Byggnadsmaterial;

    Sammanfattning : A shift in modal share from car driving to cycling has many benefits, both from individual- and societal perspectives, e.g., better health from an increase in physical activity, lower levels of pollution and congestion. However, there are also some potential problems with such a shift. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Excavation in moraine and dense non-cohesive soil : Numerical analysis of soil behavior

    Författare :Mattias Lindgren; Staffan Hinze; Sigurdur Erlingsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Excavation; Excavatability; Moraine; Dense non-cohesive soil;

    Sammanfattning : Excavation and moving of soil are common civil work tasks connected to the construction of buildings, roads and railways. In construction projects large amounts of soil have to be handled with different machines, tools and working methods. Soils are more or less difficult to excavate depending on their properties.
