11. White light and x-ray digital speckle photography
Sammanfattning : The goals of this work were not only to develop new measuring techniques, but also to validate their performance, in terms of accuracy, spatial resolution, etc., by performing carefully chosen experiments. The measuring techniques were also to be applicable to industrial problems in production, control or product development. LÄS MER
12. Laser Doppler Flowmetry and Imaging: Methodological Studies
Sammanfattning : Laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) and laser Doppler imaging (LDI) are modern methods for non-invasive and continuous assessment of skin blood flow. The techniques are based on the phenomenon that monochromatic light transilluminating a perfused tissue is spectrally broadened owing to scattering by moving blood cells. LÄS MER
13. Multiplexed Digital Holography incorporating Speckle Correlation
Sammanfattning : In manufacturing industry there is a high demand for on line quality control to minimize the risk of incorrectly produced objects. Conventional contact measurement methods are usually slow and invasive, meaning that they cannot be used for soft materials and for complex shapes without influencing the controlled parts. LÄS MER
14. Fracture processes in wood chipping
Sammanfattning : In both the chemical and mechanical pulping process, the logs are cut into wood chips by a disc chipper before fibre separation. To make the wood chipping process more efficient, one have to investigate in detail the coupling between theprocess parameters and the quality of the chips. LÄS MER
15. Multivariate non-invasive measurements of skin disorders
Sammanfattning : The present thesis proposes new methods for obtaining objective and accurate diagnoses in modern healthcare. Non-invasive techniques have been used to examine or diagnose three different medical conditions, namely neuropathy among diabetics, radiotherapy induced erythema (skin redness) among breast cancer patients and diagnoses of cutaneous malignant melanoma.
