21. The density of rational points and invariants of genus one curves
Sammanfattning : The present thesis contains three papers dealing with two arithmetic problems on curves of genus one, which are closely related to elliptic curves. The first problem is to study the density of rational points presented in Papers I and II. LÄS MER
22. Implantation-Site Dependent Differences in Engraftment and Function of Transplanted Pancreatic Islets
Sammanfattning : Transplanting pancreatic islets into the liver through the portal vein is currently the most common procedure in clinical islet transplantations for treating patients with brittle type 1 diabetes. However, most islet grafts fail within a 5-year period necessitating retransplantation. LÄS MER
23. Pharmacological properties of radiotracers that measure p-glycoprotein function and density
Sammanfattning : Energy-dependent transporters of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) family regulate the movement of molecules across cellular membranes. Several of these transporters are expressed in the endothelial cells of brain microvessels (blood-brain barrier) to protect brain tissue from exposure to toxins in the blood. LÄS MER
24. Quantum transport in photoswitching molecules : An investigation based on ab initio calculations and Non Equilibrium Green Function theory
Sammanfattning : Molecular electronics is envisioned as a possible next step in device miniaturization. It is usually taken to mean the design and manufacturing of electronic devices and applications where organic molecules work as the fundamental functioning unit. LÄS MER
25. Factors in secondary prevention subsequent to distal radius fracture : Focus on physical function, co-morbidity, bone mineral density and health-related quality of life
Sammanfattning : In Sweden approximately 25000 distal radius fractures occur annually, which is 37 % of all fractures related to osteoporosis. In this thesis, risk factors for osteoporosis, bone mineral density (BMD) and health-related quality of life (the SF-36) were compared in patients who suffered a distal radius fracture after low energy trauma with a control group matched on the basis of age, gender, and municipality of residence.
