1. Understanding Life After Stroke
Sammanfattning : Stroke is an acute, neurological dysfunction of vascular origin with sudden occurrence and it influences physical, cognitive and psychological functions. Initial treatment aims at eliminating or reducing the brain damage. Soon, however, the influence of the stroke on the entire life of stroke survivors has to be considered. LÄS MER
2. Delayed and cancelled orthopaedic surgery; Causes and consequences
Sammanfattning : Extended waiting time, over-booked waiting lists and cancelled and delayed surgical procedures are realities for some patients treated at orthopaedic clinics in Sweden. This situation affects the prioritisation procedures for both emergency and elective surgery and results in even longer waiting lists, not only for planned patients, but for emergencies as well. 3. Simplicity within Complexity : Understanding dynamics of cellular networks by model reduction
Sammanfattning : Cellular networks composed of interactions between genes, proteins and metabolites, determines the behavioural repertoire of the cell. Recent developments in high-throughput experimental techniques and computational methods allow static descriptions of these networks on a genome scale. LÄS MER
4. Delayed cord clamping in Nepal-Evidence for implementation
Sammanfattning : The aims of this thesis were to investigate effects of timing of umbilical cord clamping on newborn health, and on infant outcomes up to 12 months of age in a high-risk population and to explore the context of implementing changed umbilical cord clamping practices in Nepal.A randomised controlled trial with 540 late preterm and term infants born by normal vaginal delivery was set up at a maternity hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal. 5. To “leaf” or not to “leaf” : Understanding the metabolic adjustments associated with leaf senescence
Sammanfattning : The adequate execution of the final developmental stage of a leaf, leaf senescence, is crucial to the long-term survival of the plant. During senescence cellular structures like membranes, proteins, lipids and macromolecules are degraded and released nutrients are relocated to developing parts of the plant, such as young leaves, stems, flowers, siliques and ultimately seeds that are dependent on this nutrient remobilization.
