    Författare :Wen Jiang; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Zwitterionic; stationary phase; separation; liquid chromatography; capillary electrophoresis; sulfobetaine; modification; covalently bonded; graft polymerization; ζ-potential; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Liquid Chromatography (LC) and Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) are modern analytical techniques that play very important roles in many areas of modern science such as life science, biotechnology, biomedicine, environmental studies, and development of pharmaceutics. Even though these two techniques have existed and been subjected to studies for several decades, the developments of new separation materials for them are still very important till now in order to meet the different new demands for improvement from other disciplines in science. 2. 2. Proton-Coupled Electron Transfer from Hydrogen-Bonded Phenols

    Författare :Tania Irebo; Leif Hammarström; James M. Mayer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Proton-coupled electron transfer; phenol oxidation; hydrogen bonds; artificial photosynthesis; promoting vibrations; proton transfer; laser flash-quench; transient absorption.; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) is one of the elementary reactions occurring in many chemical and biological systems, such as photosystem II where the oxidation of tyrosine (TyrZ) is coupled to deprotonation of the phenolic proton. This reaction is here modelled by the oxidation of a phenol covalently linked to a Ru(bpy)32+-moitey, which is photo-oxidized by a laser flash-quench method. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Carbon Nanotubes for Electronic Packaging: Growth, Novel Devices and 3D Networks

    Författare :Yifeng Fu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; multi-scale modeling; electrospinning; microfin; PDMS; chemical vapor deposition CVD ; Carbon nanotube CNT ; double-walled CNT DWNT ; CNT covalent bonding; CNT transfer; thermal management; packaging;

    Sammanfattning : Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have shown great potential of application in electronics because of their attractive physical properties, such as high surface-to-volume ratio, high electron mobility, high Young’s modulus, high thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion coefficient, etc. However, many obstacles are yet to be removed to use CNTs as building blocks in electronic systems. 4. 4. Antibacterial surface coatings for biomedical applications

    Författare :Saba Atefyekta; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Antimicrobial surfaces; mesoporous titania; elastin-like polypeptide; antimicrobial peptide; antibiotic delivery;

    Sammanfattning : Over the past decades there has been a significant increase in the diversity and function of biomaterials. Today, medical practices utilize a large number of biomaterials in the form of medical devices and implants. However, one major obstacle that limits the efficiency of biomaterials is their susceptibility to develop infection. LÄS MER

  5. 5. DNA Tools and Microfluidic Systems for Molecular Analysis

    Författare :Jonas Jarvius; Ulf Landegren; Mats Nilsson; P Luke Lee; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Molecular medicine; Proximity ligation; Microfluidics; Single molecule detection; Microarray; Bonding; Molekylärmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Improved methods are needed to interrogate the genome and the proteome. Methods with high selectivity, wide dynamic range, and excellent precision, capable of simultaneously analyzing many biomolecules are required to decipher cellular function. This thesis describes a molecular and microfluidic toolbox designed with those criteria in mind. LÄS MER
