  1. 1. Evolution of HIV-1 coreceptor use in relation to pathogenesis

    Författare :Ingrid Karlsson; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; RANTES; higly active antiretroviral therapy; pathogenesis; lymphoid tissue; cehmokine receptor; biological phenotype; coreceptor; HIV-1; evolution;

    Sammanfattning : HIV-1 uses the coreceptors CCR5 and/or CXCR4 in addition to CD4 to enter the host cell. CCR5-using HIV-1 (R5 phenotype) appears to transmit infection and usually dominates the early stages of disease. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Intrapatient evolution of HIV-1 in the context of coreceptor usage

    Författare :Mattias Mild; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; coreceptor switch; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ; biological cloning; R5-X4; coreceptor usage; glycosylation; recombination; HIV; evolution;

    Sammanfattning : The variable region 1 to 3 (V1-V3) of the HIV-1 envelope plays an important role in coreceptor usage. Early in infection HIV- 1 is using CCR5 as coreceptor to enter target cells (R5 viruses) whereas viruses using CXCR4 as coreceptor (X4 viruses) may appear later in infection. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Recombinant CXCR4/CCR5 hybrid receptors as tools for studies of HIV-1 receptor usage

    Författare :Liselotte Antonsson; Drug Target Discovery; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin människa och djur ; evolution; pathogenesis; cerebrospinal fluid; Medicine human and vertebrates ; TAK-779; RANTES; CXCR4; CCR5; coreceptor; GPCR; HIV-1;

    Sammanfattning : The chemokine receptors CCR5 and CXCR4 are required, together with CD4, for the entry of HIV-1 into target cells. CCR5 using HIV-1 dominates during transmission and the asymptomatic phase of infection. During progression, virus phenotypes with the ability to use CXCR4 emerge in about 50% of infected individuals. 4. 4. Virus tropism and neutralization response in SIV infection

    Författare :Anna Laurén; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Naturvetenskap; Natural science; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; HIV; SIV; mode of CCR5 use; CD4-independence; macrophage tropism; coreceptor use; neutralization; evolution; pathogenesis;

    Sammanfattning : Simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) infections in macaques are commonly used as models to study the pathogenesis of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Both SIV and HIV normally use the CD4 receptor and an additional coreceptor for cell entry. The most common coreceptors used by HIV are CCR5 and CXCR4. LÄS MER

  5. 5. HIV-1 evolution, disease progression and molecular epidemiology of HIV-1 single and HIV-1 and HIV-2 dual-infected individuals in Guinea-Bissau

    Författare :Joakim Esbjörnsson; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; HIV-1; HIV-2; Guinea-Bissau; subtype; disease progression; evolution; coreceptor tropism; CXCR4; gp120; V1-V3; CD4%; CD8%; soluble immune markers;

    Sammanfattning : The two genetically related human lentiviruses known today, HIV-1 (which is pandemic) and HIV-2 (which mainly is confined to West Africa), are the causative agents of AIDS. Progressive immune dysfunction and AIDS develop in most cases of untreated HIV-1 infection, but only in approximately 25-30% of HIV-2 infected individuals. LÄS MER
