  1. 21. Growth in Aging Colonies : The Importance of Being Different

    Författare :Marie Wrande; Diarmaid Hughes; Måns Ehrenberg; Mikael Rhen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The accumulation of rifampicin resistant (RifR) mutants in aging bacterial colonies has previously been attributed to stress-induced mutagenesis. Mutations giving rise to RifR are located in the rpoB gene, coding for the β subunit of RNA polymerase, RpoB. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Dynamics of root microorganisms in closed hydroponic cropping systems

    Författare :Anna Karin Rosberg; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Greenhouse production of vegetables in closed hydroponic cropping systems is a resource-efficient technique for the production of high-quality produce with a high yield per unit area. While this type of cropping system allows savings in terms of water and nutrient use, the recirculation of water increases the risk of pathogen dispersal. LÄS MER

  3. 23. The Wilms' tumor gene 1 (WT1) and leukemia -new insights and further complexity

    Författare :Emelie Svensson; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; onkologi; cancer; Haematology; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology; Cytology; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Cofilin 1; NDRG2; IRF-8; BCR ABL1; hematopoiesis; Wilms´ tumor gene 1; leukemia;

    Sammanfattning : The Wilms tumor gene 1 (WT1) encodes a zinc-finger containing transcription factor which is highly expressed in immature hematopoietic progenitor cells. A high expression of WT1 and the presence of somatic mutations in acute leukemia indicate a role for WT1 in the pathogenesis of leukemia. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Fetal hematopoietic cells in early gestation : aspects in view of fetal transplantation

    Författare :Sverker Ek; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Fetal stem cells; fetal liver; fetal hematopoiesis; immunological ontogeny; fetal transplantation; cytokines; CD34 enrichment;

    Sammanfattning : The fetus as a patient is a challenge. There are opportunities for early, sometimes life-saving procedures or there may be advantages in prenatal rather than postnatal intervention. This is the case in fetal hematopoietic cell (FHC) transplantation where conditions caused by a defect in blood cell formation may be life-threatening to the fetus. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Innate immunity in Staphylococcus aureus arthritis and sepsis

    Författare :Margareta Verdrengh; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Staphylococcus aureus; mice; sepsis; septic arthritis; neutrophils; monocytes macrophages; GM-CSF; adhesion molecules;

    Sammanfattning : Bacterial arthritis is a severe, rapidly progressing erosive disease with high morbidity and mortality. Staphylococcus aureus is the most common causative bacterium. Granulocytes together with cells from the monocyte/macrophage lineage, are the earliest leukocytes entering the synovial tissue in response to invading staphylococci. LÄS MER
