1. Crowdsensing-driven Route Optimisation Algorithms for Smart Urban Mobility
Sammanfattning : Urban mobility is often considered as one of the main facilitators for greener and more sustainable urban development. However, nowadays it requires a significant shift towards cleaner and more efficient urban transport which would support for increased social and economic concentration of resources in cities. 2. Numerical Conformal mappings for regions Bounded by Smooth Curves
3. Evolutionary Materialism: Towards a Theory of Anticipatory Adaptive Assemblages
Sammanfattning : This thesis is an investigation into how meta-heuristic multi-objective optimisation processes (genetic algorithms driven by evolutionary solvers) can bring about materials-related advantages in architectural performance. It redefines the architect’s and engineer’s role from being designers of a singular space or structure to being designers of entire species of spaces, and discusses a particular method – anticipatory adaptive assemblages (AAA) – that allows such processes to produce many generations of design iterations that eventually yield individuals optimised for a set of predefined objectives. 4. Accuracy, efficiency and robustness for rigid particle simulations in Stokes flow
Sammanfattning : The thesis concerns simulation techniques for systems of nano- to micro-scaled rigid particles immersed in a viscous fluid, ubiquitous in nature and industry. With negligible fluid inertia, the set of PDEs known as the Stokes equations can be used to model the hydrodynamics. LÄS MER
5. Parallel Algorithms and Library Software for the Generalized Eigenvalue Problem on Distributed Memory Computer Systems
Sammanfattning : We present and discuss algorithms and library software for solving the generalized non-symmetric eigenvalue problem (GNEP) on high performance computing (HPC) platforms with distributed memory. Such problems occur frequently in computational science and engineering, and our contributions make it possible to solve GNEPs fast and accurate in parallel using state-of-the-art HPC systems. LÄS MER
