  1. 1. Function follows Form : Trait-based approaches to climate change effects on wetland vegetation and functioning

    Författare :Helen Moor; Jon Norberg; Andrew Gonzalez; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Functional traits; Plant community ecology; Trait distributions; Wetlands; Ecosystem functioning; Ecosystem Services; Climate change; Dispersal; Metacommunity modelling; naturresurshushållning; Natural Resources Management;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change and habitat fragmentation are altering the structure and functioning of plant communities world-wide. Understanding how, why and with what consequences are major challenges of ecology today. Trait-based approaches focus on functional rather than taxonomic identity to facilitate process-based explanation and prediction. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Food Web Ecology -- individual life-histories and ecological processes shape complex communities

    Författare :Martin Hartvig; Evolutionär ekologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; food web; community ecology; community assembly; size-structure; life-history omnivory; ontogeny; trophic interactions; trait based model; topology; emergent organisation; size-spectrum;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis sets out a food web framework for size-structured populations. The framework enables an ecological approach to food web modelling as the individual life-history from birth, through maturation, and ultimately death is explicitly resolved with the use of bioenergetics based on individual body size. 3. 3. Sphagnum limits : Physiology, morphology and climate

    Författare :Charles Campbell; Håkan Rydin; Gustaf Granath; Sebastian Sundberg; Bengt-Gunnar Jonsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sphagnum; ecology; bryophyte; winter; species distribution models; low temperature; plant structure; water economy; Biology with specialization in Ecological Botany; Biologi med inriktning mot ekologisk botanik;

    Sammanfattning : Sphagnum is the most important plant genus in terms of terrestrial carbon cycling. It and the habitats it creates store an equivalent of ~68% of the CO2 in the atmosphere. The genus has little dispersal limitation and the mire habitats are functionally similar at global scales. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Latent variable models for longitudinal twin data

    Författare :Annica Dominicus; Juni Palmgren; Nancy L. Pedersen; Michael G. Kenward; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Latent variable models; twin models; variance components; change point models; non-ignorable nonresponse; likelihood ratio tests; Mathematical statistics; Matematisk statistik;

    Sammanfattning : Longitudinal twin data provide important information for exploring sources of variation in human traits. In statistical models for twin data, unobserved genetic and environmental factors influencing the trait are represented by latent variables. In this way, trait variation can be decomposed into genetic and environmental components. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Tracing selection and adaptation along an environmental gradient in Populus tremula

    Författare :David Hall; Pär Ingvarsson; Thomas Bataillon; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Local adaptation; Selection; genetic differentiation; QST; FST; Association study; frequency spectra; recurrent hitchhiking; selective sweep; Tree; Populus; natural selection; quantitative genetics; Terrestrial ecology; Terrestrisk ekologi; Population Biology; populationsbiologi; genetik; Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : The distribution of the expressed genotype is moved around in the population over time byevolution. Natural selection is one of the forces that act on the phenotype to change the patterns ofnucleotide variation underlying those distributions. LÄS MER
