  1. 1. Frame Analysis in Environmental Conflicts : The case of ethanol production in Brazil

    Författare :Ester Galli; Ronald Wennersten; Tom Dwyer; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Brazil; biodiversity; biofuel; CO2 emissions; environmental conflict; ethanol; frame; frame analysis; land use change; sugarcane; sugarcane cutters; sustainable energy;

    Sammanfattning : Governments and policy-makers are currently dealing with some key issues as energy security in countries dependent on oil imports; global economic development, including increased food production; and controlling global climate change and greenhouse gas emissions. The perception that biofuel could solve these challenges simultaneously has led to the implementation of policy and regulatory mechanisms on the mandatory use of biofuels, resulting in a sharp increase in biofuel production and consumption. 2. 2. Mesolitiska möten : Strandvägen, en senmesolitisk boplats vid Motala ström

    Författare :Tom Carlsson; Arkeologi; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Archaeology; Social relations; Spatial organisation; Eastern Middle Sweden; Late Mesolithic; Arkeologi;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation focuses on the Strandvägen site located in the town of Motala, Östergötland, Sweden. The problem concerns what shaped the material expressions on the site during 5500?5000 B.C. For reasons of text structure the space outside the settlement site (the home) is divided into the world, the district, and the neighbourhood. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Architecture for programmable network infrastructure

    Författare :Tom Barbette; Laurent Matht; University of Liege; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; networking; high-speed; dpdk; netmap; click; fastclick; middleclick; nfv; sdn; dataplane; parallelism; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Sammanfattning : Software networking promises a more flexible network infrastructure, poised to leverage the computational power available in datacenters. Virtual Net- work Functions (VNF) can now run on commodity hardware in datacenters instead of using specialized equipment disposed along the network path. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Visuospatial inattention and processing speed : Predictors of long-term outcome and patterns of change after ischemic stroke

    Författare :Joel Gerafi; Hans Samuelsson; Tom Manly; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Visuospatial inattention; language impairment; long-term functional outcome; ischemic stroke; neglect; aphasia; lateralized inattention; processing speed; Consciousness and Cognitive Neuroscience; Kognitiv neurovetenskap och filosofi; visuospatial inattention; language impairment; long-term functional outcome; ischemic stroke; neglect; aphasia; lateralized inattention; processing speed;

    Sammanfattning : Impairments of visuospatial attention, language, and processing speed (PS) are common early after stroke and have been associated with unfavorable short-term functional outcomes but little is known about this relationship in the long-term. This thesis investigates 1) the potential importance of visuospatial inattention (VSI) and language impairments (LI) as predictors of functional outcomes 7 years after an ischemic stroke (studies I-II) and 2) presence of lateralized inattention 7 years after stroke and potential predictors of this phenomenon (study III). 5. 5. Modeling the Role of Energy Management in Embodied Cognition

    Författare :Alberto Montebelli; Tom Ziemke; Robert Lowe; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Technology; Teknik;

    Sammanfattning : The quest for adaptive and autonomous robots, flexible enough to smoothly comply with unstructured environments and operate in close interaction with humans, seems to require a deep rethinking of classical engineering methods. The adaptivity of natural organisms, whose cognitive capacities are rooted in their biological organization, is an obvious source of inspiration. LÄS MER
