1. Influence of aggregates on permanent deformation of asphalt
Sammanfattning : One of the most common failure modes for asphalt pavements is the occurrence of permanent deformation on the wheel path. This leads to not only other distresses, such as potholes and stripping, but also decreases substantially road safety and increases maintenance costs. LÄS MER
2. Modeling pavement performance based on data from the Swedish LTPP database : predicting cracking and rutting
Sammanfattning : The roads in our society are in a state of constant degradation. The reasons for this are many, and therefore constructed to have a certain lifetime before being reconstructed. To minimize the cost of maintaining the important transport road network high quality prediction models are needed. LÄS MER
3. Fatigue of Asphalt Mixes - Theory of Viscoelasticity and Continuum Damage Mechanics Applied to Uniaxial Fatigue Data from Laboratory Tests
Sammanfattning : The advance of analytic (mechanistic) design methods increases the need for fundamental material properties. Fatigue cracking due to traffic loading, in combination with permanent deformation (rutting), thermal cracking, irregularities, frost heave and reflective cracking are some of the major criteria used when designing an asphalt concrete pavement. 4. Mechanistic-Empirical Modeling of Permanent Deformation in Asphalt Concrete Layers
Sammanfattning : Three mechanistic-empirical permanent deformation models were evaluated under Swedish conditions with respect to traffic, climate and materials using accelerated pavement testing and long-term pavement performance studies. The mechanistic-empirical pavement design guide (M E PDG), the incremental-recursive mechanistic-empirical CalME model (CalME), and the PErmanent Deformation of asphalt concrete layer for ROads (PEDRO) model generally showed both useful features and limitations. 5. Analysis of Response and Development of Permanent Deformation of Unbound Granular Materials Using a Testing Box Technique
Sammanfattning : The main objective of this thesis is to study the response and development of permanent deformation in unbound granular materials, theoretically and experimentally. A testing box technique is used here to more closely simulate the behaviour of unbound aggregates subjected to external vertical loading. LÄS MER
