  1. 16. Regulation of cell polarity and invasion by TGF-β and BMP signaling

    Författare :Mahsa Shahidi Dadras; Aristidis Moustakas; Petra Knaus; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cancer; cancer stem cells; invasion; metastasis; polarity; TGF-β signaling.;

    Sammanfattning : Transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) and bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling pathways are involved in many physiological processes during embryonic and adult life. TGF-β promotes epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT). We identified a gene target of TGF-β signaling, encoding the salt-inducible kinase 1 (SIK1). LÄS MER

  2. 17. What do snails do in ecosystems? it is a matter of traits

    Författare :Tina Astor; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Current environmental changes demand the ability to predict possible consequences for ecosystems performing important functions regulating the Earth system, and providing essential services for human well-being. Indirect impacts can occur through changes in biotic communities. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Intervertebral disc regeneration. Studies on stem cell niches and cell transplantation

    Författare :Helena Barreto Henriksson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; intervertebral disc stem cells degenerative disc cell transplantation stem cell niches disc degeneration mesenchymal stem cells cell therapy;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Intervertebral disc regeneration Studies on stem cell niches and cell transplantation Helena Barreto Henriksson Gothenburg 2010 Low back pain is a common condition in the Western world and disc degeneration (DD) is considered a major cause. DD is characterized by dysfunctional cells and decreased matrix production. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Regulation of cell differentiation and invasion by members of the TGFß family

    Författare :Kalliopi Tzavlaki; Aristidis Moustakas; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Laia Caja; Staffan Johansson; Gareth Inman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TGFβ; BMP; LKB1; signal transduction; cancer; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) and bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling pathways are important in embryonic development and tissue homeostasis, but also have complex roles in the context of cancer. TGFβ promotes epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) a physiological developmental process, often hijacked in different types of cancer, eventually leading to cancer cell invasion and metastasis. 5. 20. Use and environmental impact of antifouling paints in the Baltic Sea

    Författare :Maria Alexandra Bighiu; Ann-Kristin Eriksson-Wiklund; Bethanie Carney Almroth; Manu Soto; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; boats; antifouling paints; metals; XRF; in situ; caging; Theodoxus fluviatilis; toxicity; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Biocide-based antifouling (AF) paints are the most common method for preventing biofouling, i.e. the growth of algae, barnacles and other organisms on boat hulls. AF paints for leisure boats are predominantly based on copper (Cu) as the main biocide, with zinc (Zn) present as a pigment and stabilizer. LÄS MER
